Feedly Skinning - My First Try
Since I have heard from the Feedly team that Skinning/themes would come in later stages/versions, i thought i will give it a try. I had to give it a try as my eyes hurt becos of the white background.
modified the CSS. implemented using Styish Extension for Firefox/Flock.
PS: Edwin: If this is against the policies of Feedly developers then i would not disclose more details

Inappropriate?Hi. This is very cool! I would love to work with you to clean up our CSS files so that 1) skinning becomes easier and 2) it does not become a maintenance nightmare as we iterate fast. We could also work on integrating it back into the product so that we offer an light and a dark skin. The next 4 days are a little hectic for me because I am focusing on more administrative tasks but I will ping you early next week.
I’m excited

This skin is great. Will it be released? -
Inappropriate?:-) nice. I am hoping to be able to carve out a couple of days next week and help build a skinning module in feedly. question: do you know how many different colors you are using to build the skin? I would like to see if we can expose those as global parameters and see if we can allow people to build skins using 5-20 parameters (colors, fonts, etc..) instead of having to dive into our complete CSS.

Inappropriate?hi Edwin,
skinning sounds just great.. looking forward for it :)
Q: do you know how many different colors you are using to build the skin?
A: with my second skin, i have dugg out the css file pretty well... but not completely.
i have seen the css files could have been more organized... i guess this skinning development will eventually do that... about the colors, they are properly saved and i have 2 different files for both the skins/themes i experimented. And as you mentioned there are not many color codes to be changed... just a set of few to get the complete look.[right now for the deviantart theme there are around 9-10 colors]
if you use stylish extension, then i will give you the userstyles for feedly which i made so that you can test and work towards the skinning module.
Suggestion for Skinning module: I wish we can have a dropdown menu [or icons] on the top left of the systembar... which will have list of css files which are in one of the sub folders of feedly.. as we drop in some/new css files [default css file will be already there in the dir] the dropdown menu/icons will pick up those css and work when selected.
[i was actually planning to do this when i have time]
I’m happy

Inappropriate?slax: here is a quick update so that you know where we are. We recently started a small project called "River" to address some of the productivity issues raised by some of the scanners. As part of this, we are massaging some of the UI. As soon as the river is complete, one of the members of the team will work on parametrizing the color palette. As soon as that is ready we would like to collaborate with you on the integration of a dark skin inspired by the work you have been doing. We will definitely keep you posted as we make progress on the river and get ready for the skinning.

Inappropriate? Thanks slax. Will take a look this week end. We should see the end of the river in a week or so and then be able to dedicate an entire week to skinning. Have a good week end!
