Feedly vs. Google Reader Account Access & Security
if feedly gets access to my user and pass for google reader, don't they then have access to my credit card account with google? why can't feedly just work off of an imported opml file that i could provide to get my feeds.

Inappropriate?Hi Todd, we do not get access to your password. The browser network stack manages the authentications so we never see or touch any of your credential.
Regarding pricy, please refer to:

Inappropriate?Great, thanks. Can you please explain Gmail & Yahoo Mail, Feedly would capture all of my contacts? Wouldn't that be a problem like the Plaxo days of old. How would you get my contacts from Gmail if not without having access to my password. Perhaps I still don't understand fully. Thank you.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Todd,
Regarding Yahoo Mail and Gmail, your data stays with those services (they are *NOT* aggregated or copied) and are accessed in real-time by the feedly client when you search for connections or decide to use "email" feature. As mentioned earlier, we do not see or touch our credentials, this is all managed by the browser network stack.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best,

Inappropriate?Thank you. I think I understand that you don't access credential. I think I understand that you use my subscribed feeds to build the the better view in Feedly. Sorry I don't think I understand what you get from Gmail and Yahoo Mail and likewise, my Twitter account. Perhaps I missed it in the intro Feedly home page. Can you explain. I understand the social part and possibly that you have a way to know what twitters I follow are reading and recommend it to me, but what of the email addresses of Gmail and Yahoo, what do you get from them? Thanks.

Inappropriate?Todd,
When you go to the welcome wizard, from gmail, twitter and Y! contact, we do a look up by id and we determine if you know any existing feedly users and if so we connect you with them by having you follow their recommendations (the people you get connected with show up in the feedly people module on the right hand side.
Currently the feedly user base is small so the probability that you know someone who is an existing feedly user is low, this is why you might not see anyone if the people section. But if feedly userbase grows and you decide to re-run the welcome wizard by clicking in the plus, the probability of a match will be higher.
Regarding where the address are got from, in the welcome wizard, when you check Y! or GMail, feedly contacts in real-time the Gmail contact service and Y! email service.

Inappropriate?I think I have it now. Thanks again. Seems like something I am looking for relative to putting the many feeds I am subscribed to in a much more pleasing format for reading. I look forward to checking it out. Thank you.
I’m grateful. Thank you.
