Inappropriate?Sorry. Did you just install feedly or did this problem happen during an upgrade?

I just did a clean install and afterward this message box pops up every time I start Firefox 3. I looked in the directory where the file is supposed to be and sure enough, it isn't there. The control-C and paste garbled the path a little bit, but I checked the actual one and there is nothing there, apparently the file failed to download properly from your site. I have uninstalled and re-installed, but the problem persists. The changes where made to Google Reader however and the toolbar button seems to work, but this other pop-up is really annoying and I must uninstall your product until a solution is found. Thanks. -

Inappropriate?ok. it is the first time we are seeing this problem so we will have to try to replicate to understand the root case. If you have not installed yet, could you please restart firefox and right after the installation go to firefox menu > tools > Error Console > messgage sub tab and submit a screenshot? This will help us understand what is happing under the hood and why the patching sequence might fail.
Sorry to not be able to be more useful. -
Inappropriate?Update: I found the source of the problem and I have a temporary workaround. It seems that there is a bad interaction with the zip file from Feedly and Internet Download Manager (which I have been using for years), IDM downloads the zip files into my download directory so naturally Firefox 3 doesn't find them. I disabled the automatic download from IDM for zip files and after a new installation I no longer got the error message at Firefox 3 startup. I think you will want to look into this a bit more, however, I'm sure I'm not the only person using a download manager like IDM.

Inappropriate?PragueBob: you rock! thanks for cracking that nut for us. DownloadManager is definitely popular so now that we understand what the problem is, we are going to install it and try to reproduce the problem and fix it. We will keep you posted. Note: next week is very busy for use so it might take 10 days before we can get back to you on this!

Inappropriate?Update 2: I think the problem is only a real problem at install time or maybe when you push updates (if there is a zip file involved). After the install I allowed IDM to handle zip files again and it is causing no problems with Feedly at the moment, I will watch my download directory for mysterious zip files which might signal a Feedly update until you get back to me with your more general fix. I'm really enjoying Feedly and I have just blogged about it on Twitter (as PragueBob) where I'm also following your updates.
I’m mo' happier

Inappropriate?PragueBob: we push out patches every other day or so so it might get annoying. Do you know if there is a way to configure IDM so that it is not used for some sites? (in that case, you could whitelist http://s3.feeddo.com and http://s3.feedly.com
Note I tried to install it but it seems to be Windows only and no one in the office has a windows machine so I will have to wait until I am back how to drill down into their APIs and see how to work around the problem we are running into.

this solves the problem

Good suggestion! Yes, there is a way to tell IDM not to automatically download from a particular site, so I have done so for both of the sites you suggested that I "whitelist". I suspect there will now be no more problems, but if so I will let you know. I suspect you might get some other users with my problem eventually, so you will probably want to find some general solution anyway, but in my case it is now probably a non-issue, thanks.
