How about parsing GeoRSS tags...
You could have a map section that plotted stories that are geotagged on, and also prioritise stories that occured near the reader.
This would be amazing - especially as geotagging becomes more and more mainstream.

Inappropriate? That could be fun. Do you have a couple of examples of feed including GeoRSS?
-
Inappropriate?Brightkite feeds are probably the most obvious, though I've noticed a few other blogs using this.
Basically you just add tags like this:
<geo:lat>37.430107</geo:lat>
<geo:long>-122.436367</geo:long>
<georss:point>37.430107 -122.436367</georss:point>
to an entry - there seems to be two standards at the mo, geo, and georss.
An example feed would be Robert Scoble's brightkite: http://brightkite.com/people/Scobleiz...
If you flick through friendfeed, any item with a map has come from georss, I've started noticing it more and more on there hence my idea for Feedly.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?OK. I have added this idea to our roadmap under "better experience" http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?ke...
I will try to see if the Google Reader platform passes the geo information along and if not what their plans are to support this. I will report on our finding.
