keyboard shortcuts for post navigation stopped working
Some days ago all navigation keys (n,p, j,k) stopped working. This is strange, as all other keyboard shortcuts work as expected.
For me this is really a productivity slowdown, I've been reverting to google reader to go trough large news batches.
I've been using the latest Firefox, 3.6 nightly version.

Inappropriate?Hi Edgar...Elisa mentioned about your tweet. Sorry for the lack of responsiveness. The problem is that I have not been able to reproduce this issue. Do you see anything get logged in the firefox error console (messages or error tab) when you click on j? Does it happen with on pages (different views, category or feed, etc...). Any additional information you can provide use will help reduce the scope of the bug hunt. Also to make sure that you are running the latest version of feedly, could you please point your browser to http://www.feedly.com/release/feedly.xpi and re-install the extension?
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the followup - I've only posted the issue here to help others that may be struggling with the same - community help is always good!
Well, I've changed to the xpi you linked, tested it and it remains the same. The navigation keys won't work on any page (not on expose, cover, digest, category, ...) and it doesn't show up on error console. Despite having no scripts directed at feedly, I've also disabled greasemonkey, with no effect I'd like to help more, but I don't really know how :( Feel free to ask me for more! Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Quick followup - I confirm that under the same settings, Feedly's nav shortcuts don't work, but Gmail's do! And I'm talking about j,k,n, and p. So it's not a browser nightly bug, it is probably feedly's.

Inappropriate?Do you have any updates on this?
Note this is happening in the nightly builds not in the release builds.
See http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? There should be a change in the way keyboard shortcuts are handled. Buxfer has the same problem, all its keys stopped working in the nightlies a while back. But they solved it already, so it *is* possible. Since Feedly is a Firefox specific web application/add-on, I think it should address this issue a bit more aggressively (unless I'm mistaken, the fix should be fairly simple).
(This is not an harsh-toned comment, people - i still love feedly, and admire its evolution since i started using it half a year ago! Please do let me know if i can help figure out what's wrong, i want it to improve!) -
Inappropriate?Do you have any updates on this?
This is still a problem with Feedly 2.x.005 (build 2855).

I have 4 other bugs to clean up tonight. Will install 3.6 and take a look right after that. Will keep you posted. -
Can you please confirm that you are running 3.6 as well -
Inappropriate?I am running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a2pre) Gecko/20090813 Minefield/3.6a2pre
I’m excited
-
OK. Thanks for the clarification. Will take a look at this first thing tomorrow. -
Inappropriate?I've been running firefox nightlies since my first post, updating almost every day with the latest build, and the issue remains since then. note that those keys work on google reader, for instance, and buxfer has solved their issues with keyboard shortcuts, too. On feedly, most keys work, only the navigation (jknp) are non-responsive.
Thanks, hope you find the bug, tell us if there's something we can do to help tracking/fixing it!
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Update: I am able to reproduce this problem. I am going to try to kill it this evening. Will keep you posted.
-
Inappropriate?Fixed. The fix will be included in the 2.x.007 patch we will push out tomorrow evening. Have a good week end!
-
Great! and thanks!
I am eagerly waiting release 2.x.007 -
Inappropriate?Thank you! out of curiosity, why did it happen, was it something that changed on feedly's code, or was it something that became different on the latest Minefields?
Another question, since you're at the keyboard shortcuts, do you plan to add the simple but yet so usefull Shift+A to mimic google reader's "mark viewed as read" command? I'm sure I'm not alone when I say this is really usefull!
Thanks again, great work!
I’m thankful

Mozilla seems to have changed the tagname for the top element from HTML to html I will look into the Shift+A request. A lot of people have been asking for it. -
FYI. The patch included some other changes which did not pass all the regression tests so it looks more like a Thursday release. Have a great week. -
Inappropriate?Out of curiosity, did you got to upload that patch thursday? i'm using version: 2.0a.030 (build 2827), but it ain't working, yet (not sure if it should, already).
I’m anxious
-
Inappropriate?okay, I've uninstalled feedly, because navigation keys were too important for me to stand by and wait. I decided to install again from the main site, just to make sure there were no differences, and it looks like i now have version 2.x.009 (build 2864). And this one is fully working for me now, with the latest firefox nightly build! Now why did my feedly addon stopped updating i'm not sure... So if someone still has this problem, try unisntalling, restarting, installing again from the feedly website and it should work.
Kudos!
I’m happy, at last!
