Marking Cover page items as read

Just wondering if it is possible to mark the cover page as read? It's a unique interface for a home page (kind of like a google news view), but sometimes you have a couple of minutes to kill and want to view a few "screensfull". There is a refresh button on the top right, but not much refreshes if you don't mark the current page of items as read.
