My List of Nits and Wishes
I haven't done one of these for a while, but here is my list of things that would make feedly more perfect (for me at least). Item 1 is the one that matters most to me.
1. Please, please give me way to have digest and cover top section articles be drawn from favorite feeds only. Articles from feeds in which I have only a modest interest should not be able to dominate the most visible part of feedly without anyway for me to stop it without completely unsubscribing from those feeds.
2. Page navigation keys should also work on the cover page (n,p,j,k)
3. Enter key on a highlighted article (when navigated to with n,p) should open the article whether (appropriately) inline, preview pane, or in another tab. Right now this works for inline but otherwise doesn't (sometimes opens the wrong article)
4. For top section articles (on category pages and the digest) it might be better to move the view so article pane is at top of screen and show more of longer articles. This would also more consistent with how ordinary articles move when expanded.
5. The preview pane is slightly low on my screen (partially hidden by the horizontal scroll bar)
6. Is there any way to allow a keystroke to close the preview pane? E.g., escape.
Thanks for consideration of these items (especially #1).
Phil

Inappropriate?7. Cover page has layout problem when a category a the top of the screen has only one unread article (leaves space between article summary and next category)
8. Cover page article summaries lack the little x for removing/reading -
Inappropriate?Hi Phil,
Some really good suggestions. #1 should be easy to offer as a preference so I will make sure that it finds it way in. 7 is by design because we want to make sure that all the category names are aligned on a grid. 8. is something we experimented with but it added too much noise to the UI. But I understand the need.
We now have a constraint from Mozilla to only push out one update a month (starting with the 2.0a build we pushed out) so we might not be able to give you the enhancement before the end of July (build 2.0b). If #1 is very painful, we might be able to give you an special one of build.
Thanks again and have a great week end!

Inappropriate? Thanks for reviewing these suggestions. Special thanks for the very generous offer to make a special build, but it's not necessary. I can wait. I've lived with #1 for a while already. I only begged for emphasis.
With respect to number 8 and some of the others, What I'm aiming for is the ability to read more quickly on the cover page. Something that will work from the keyboard, but let me avoid the uninteresting articles easily. That notion is encompassed in the above suggestions, and it should still work without the x if there is n/p navigation and keystroke opening/closing of articles combined with the mark-as-read keystroke after finishing the page. So I better add one:
9. Mark as read keystroke should work on cover page
Here's two more unrelated to all that.
10. It might add additional energy to the pages with selected article to change the selection after a refresh (e.g., add a little randomness or cycle among top articles).
11. You could use a fallback for highlighted articles without an image. A feedly logo or an unrelated video or image would fit in just fine on cover or digest. -
Inappropriate?Hi Phil,
We pushed out 2.0a.005 to http://www.feedly.com It includes a new "recommendation logic" preference knob to address 1) and tries to have some more fun placeholders (#11) -
Inappropriate?Thanks!
