New Feedly Layout: a step down
Feedly..
This new layout is a definite STEP DOWN from the original.
You save room, but lose a lot of the charm and compatibility with other plug-ins.
I use Feedly with Stylish and I love it.
If you guys must keep this new layout can you PLEASE create an option for the original layout.
I was a daily Feedly user and will sadly have to uninstall if this layout is our only option.
If other people agree with this please respond and maybe Feedly's designers will give us this option by popular demand.

We implemented Don's idea in patch 1.2.288. There is a preference knob called Grid Layout which allows you to lock the layout to a specific setting. See http://blog.feedly.com/2009/06/02/sup... for more information

After a 30 hour code marathon, we have extended the behavior from 2 modes to 3 modes: narrow, medium and wide. Medium is optimized for 1024 width and should address the problems reported on this thread. The changes are included in the 1.2.283 patch we just pushed out so you should be able to try the 3 mode transition next time you restart firefox. Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate?Hello. Sorry to hear that the new design does not work for you. There is already a thread http://getsatisfaction.com/feedly/top... to discuss this issue. As mentioned in that thread we are working over the week end to try to offer a better solution for users who have 1024px (but it will not be based on the same codebase/markup). More on this on Monday. Have a great week end.

Inappropriate?I don't see any options for these different modes.
I have updated feedly, restarted Firefox...
What else do I need to do? -
Inappropriate?Edwin, because browser width may change number of times a day, I think width-based automatic selection could easily confuse users. Like fugu, I got confused when old layout came back this morning (because I apparently changed browser width at some point) and ended up searching fruitlessly for some controls or preference settings.
Something like:
[ thin | normal | WIDE | auto ]
somewhere (left?) along the top would be nice to have so the user can override/restore automatic layout selection.
I’m unconcerned

Thanks for the suggestion. Makes sense. Will try to see if we can make it fit. -
Inappropriate?I see that if you re-size the browser you get something similar to the original, but that's not very useful in daily viewing.
Are there planes for a button option?
Anything like Dons example would be perfect! -
Inappropriate?Much better thanks, I can now begin to enjoy the experience.
Don's suggestion is a good coverall; most of my friends wouldn't know how to resize their browser view.
I’m Looking forward to it...

I just hope that when you choose to use for example wide layout it's still gonna stay in the width of your browser window, not with additional horizontal scroll.. right? -
ok, restarted my browser and I see I was wrong ;( no chance for user with smaller screens to even try if they like wide mode on their screens or not :( -
Inappropriate?How do I install patch 1.2.288?
I have updated in Firefox and there are no updates available.
I do not have this grid option in my Feedly preferences!
