New "narrow mode" layout
I've tested new design announced on your blog and honestly it is useless for me. If feedly is gonna be this way I'll have to move back to google reader.
You wanted to make better screen real estate and effect is that I have almost 300px of empty space all together on both sides of the screen.
In addition only way to access older feeds is first to use dashboard cause categories on the left are displayed only when there are new feeds in it. When I go there and I use dashboard to find correct feed or category than I still have to use this "edit" button to access and uncheck "unread only". It's getting really complicated, too complicated for me.
Still main problem for me is missing right menu with index of feeds. I don't care about social features there but right now I can't see list of feeds names in latest and I can't mark easly whole feed as read.
In cover and digest view I don't have even "mark as read" or "refresh" icons. I don't have icons in right corner at all :/
Honestly right now feedly is not usable for me :(
p.s. One more minor thing is that when I go to chosen feed few and than back to latest - leatest is not marked in bold font anymore.

After a 30 hour code marathon, we have extended the behavior from 2 modes to 3 modes: narrow, medium and wide. Medium is optimized for 1024 width and should address the problems reported on this thread. The changes are included in the 1.2.283 patch we just pushed out so you should be able to try the 3 mode transition next time you restart firefox. Thanks for the feedback.

Inappropriate?I too think the left navigation column has taken up too much space and the font size is extremely tiny and hard to read. The favorites and sources column seemed to have been reduced as the titles of some feeds are cut off. The navigation at the top was so much better. Why change it?

Inappropriate?"The favorites and sources column seemed to have been reduced"
Reduced? Maybe in normal mode, in narrow mode there are just gone. Whole right column is gone :(
Look at the screenshot above.

Oh that really sucks! I just think the previous appearance is so much better and user friendly. I am a little surprised with this change. I was really loving Feedly until this change. -
Inappropriate?Yeah, same problem, where is the right column ? I don't see the twitter column :(
I’m confused

Inappropriate?I use feedly as a tool for journalistic work. The topic sidebar on the left with tiny fonts and topics with no unread articles disappearing is a bad idea in terms of usability.
Also: Viewing older posts only from the dashboards requires a LOT of unneccessary clicks for me.
What about the following options:
a) Option to show topics in the sidebar even if there are no unread articles.
b) Option for horizontal (old) or vertical (new) layout
An while I am at it:
c) Option to make "Search" the default behaviour in the search box, not "Explore" -
Inappropriate?a) Option to show topics in the sidebar even if there are no unread articles.
I agree, there is this option for index in right sidebar, should be also for new left one
Also option to show/hide number of unread articles in each category would be great -
Inappropriate?I'm having the same problems and woes with Feedly as others in this thread, though it is significantly faster and more feature conscious than Bloglovin', the web-based alternative.
Having a few other troubles besides which i'll post elsewhere.
Bring it on, and thanks for your hard work.

Inappropriate? Thanks for all the feedback. Going to carve out some time this week end to see if we can adjust some of the changes to better address everyone's need. Will let you know when a patch is out.

Inappropriate?Feedly..
This new layout is a definite STEP DOWN from the original.
I believe many people agree with this.
You save room, but lose alot of the charm and compatabilty with other plug-ins.
I use Feedly with Stylish and I love it.
If you guys must keep this new layout can you PLEASE create an option for the original layout.
I was a daily Feedly user and will sadly have to uninstall if this layout is our only option.
I’m sad
