Overlay my Feedly-marklet ... please
Stick the Feedly-marklet either on top or bottom as an interactive overlay. Somewhat like the Ma.gnolia roots bookmarklet but streamlined.

Inappropriate?Cesar. Do you mean make the sidebar an less intrusive overlay so that the tabs stop sliding in and out?
-
Inappropriate?Yes, but place the "sidebar" on top (where most readers look for navigation) or bottom (where it will seem less obtrusive).
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I like this suggestion a lot. We drill down into it. Will let you know when we have a prototype (This week, we need to finish another feature but may be next week)

Inappropriate? We liked this suggestion a lot. So we did a small mock up of what the second iteration of the feedly mini could look like. I am attaching 2 screenshots. The idea is that when you arrive on a page where feedly can provide tools and information, the bar would appear in active mode for 3-5 seconds and then fade out (the opacity of the fade would be configurable). On mouse over, it would fade back in. The windows that we popup when you click on tweet or conversations would open on top of the bar (hence the wider base then necessary). What do you think?
When active:

When faded out:

Inappropriate? That is a great improvement over the current sidebar, really like the fading.
I’m excited.

Inappropriate?I really like this as well. I would probably want to fade it to invisible, but have it available on every page (not just pages associated with feeds). This is because hopefully the feedly button would pop-up some options like what you get with 'gg' (a little fancier perhaps, with one or more buttons to take me to a feedly main page).
It would the nice if you could put a summary of what new article are available somewhere on the bar (at least the number of unread articles, but more detailed information would be great). This could also satisfy the needs of those who have asked to put the number of unread articles on the feedly button.

Inappropriate?Phil. very interesting. Need to think a little more about that. Will raise that at the team meeting this evening.
-
Inappropriate?I think it should't be an overlay, what if you reach the bottom and the bar covers a link? I think it should be an element in the top like Firefox mobile and Safari mobile adressbars (Firefox mobile UI concepts)

Inappropriate?Alvaro. Thanks for the pointer: the firefox mobile UI concepts are interesting. We are going to re-iterate on this next week. And submit a few more options people that review. Thanks and happy thanksgiving if you are in the US.
-
Inappropriate?Alvaro brings up a great point about covering up links.
A suggest a simple minimize feature to fix that, something like the Adobe features.
I’m excited

Inappropriate? Here is a new design proposal for the next iteration of the feedly sidebar. Something simpler, inspired by how the firefox find works. The final implementation will probably be narrower.
It should address Alvaro's concern of overlapping with content.
Re: Phil's suggestion of making it available on every page, we are thinking of having a gg shortcut toggling it on and off.
If you have suggestions, let us know what you think. Otherwise, we should have a prototype for you to play with sometimes next week.
Thanks,
Edwin

Inappropriate?Update: we decided on January 11th to kill the sidebar concept car and focus our energy instead on converting its features into a set of Ubiquity commands. See http://edwink.devhd.com/2009/01/13/de... for more information.
