Inappropriate?I thought I was the only one who was missing this
we do need feedly and chrome together!
I’m waiting for feedly
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for all the support and the cheering...One of our team members is looking at V8 and try to see what type of performance improvement we could get if the feedly code is running in V8. Based on that research, we will try to explore both embedding V8 in firefox and explore embedding feedly in chrome. To be brutally honest, we have become to LOVE firefox over the last 2 years (both the product and the community) so our first instinct will always be to see if we can help improve firefox and then look at alternatives.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? Here is an interesting read: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roadmap/ from Brendan Eich, inventor of Javascript and CTO of mozilla regarding V8 versus TraceMonkey.
-
Inappropriate?I love Feedly and its the only reason I'm going back to FF3 at the moment. Google Reader seems so flat after the Feedly experience.
Chromes speed has me hooked and support for Feedly would round out the package for me..
I’m thankful

Me too. I adopted Firefox 3 (against disgusting problems with anothers plugins) because I would like use latest Feedly. -
Can't agree more! -
Inappropriate?Symbo: thanks for the guidance. We are going to reach out to Google and try to get visibility into their extensibility roadmap and see if there is anything we can do to help. We are at the same going to reach out to Firefox and understand what they are doing with TraceMonkey and see if there are things we can to to optimize feedly for TraceMonkey (which will be part of firefox 3.1). We will report back as soon as we have more information.
I’m thankful
-
Good luck with the visibility into their extensibility roadmap thing.
Once again, Feedly is a great tool and thanks for the prompt response. -
Inappropriate?Hi, I second this idea, bringing up feedly on chrome, i love firefox but to be honnest i'm a fan of google and they have the power to bring chrome way higher than firefox...
For me feedly is very good but, not essential so now i'm on chrome who rocks and sorry feedly...

Inappropriate?NNois. Thanks for the insight. As I said we will take a look at it. But the way I read you post is not "make feedly available on Chrome" but "Feedly is not essential, you need to work hard to add value to the experience". We have been working hard on what we call beta 2 and it will be interesting to see if feedly+firefox can win you back then! Thanks for stopping by.
-
Inappropriate? That would be great if feedly can work on google chrome. I find feedly the easiest, clearest, pleasant way to view feeds. I started using google chrome because of the speed and I would love if feedly can be added into google chrome!
Thanx!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I have google chrome and FF3. I for one would like feedly to grow and reach its potential rather than starting anew on another browser. Keep up the good work on feedly

Inappropriate?I am not a fan of google chrome, as it is speed which is very much hyped is not constant. I had downloaded it a few days ago, but now it is immensely slow, yesterday i was searching for the sites based on board games, chess tactics and cricket. But the chrome has become so slower, that the sites were taking huge amount of time to open. So u can guess, how i despaired. As i was very much excited about google chrome :(
-
it sounds like you might have "automatically detect proxy settings" or something similar enabled in the proxy settings of IE&chrome. chrome uses IE's proxy settings. hope this helps :) -
Inappropriate?Chrome is the only up-to-date browser I can get without admin access, and I expected this to be like, a webpage that you set as homepage, but was severely disappointed that it isn't
I love this Idea, and this service looks awesome, except I can't get Firefox 3... and Google Chrome is too awesome to give up -
you can get firefox if you install it in your user directory (like Chrome does) instead of Program Files -
You could also install Portable Firefox from portableapps.com -

Inappropriate?Yes! I just switched to Google Chrome, and I love how much faster and more stable it is. But I miss Feedly!

Inappropriate?Scbalazs sorry to loose you as a use. May be we can win you back when firefox 3.5 goes out or when Chrome starts allowing extensions which ever happens first.

I like Chrome, but it's definitely not worth losing Feedly over. I have no probs firing up Firefox. I use it most of the time anyway, being a Linux user. But yes, it'll be nice once Chrome accepts extensions (and finishes Chromium for Linux) -
Inappropriate? We are actively monitory the progress the chrome team is making with regard to extensions. Google is making some good progress and we are hopeful that when their framework is in place, we should be able to run a feedly like solution on it. We will update this thread when we have more information. Between now and then, the work around is to try firefox 3.5 beta 4 which is blazing fast!

For me, it's not just about Chrome's speed. I much prefer Chrome's cleaner interface and fantastic tabs, so until/unless Firefox adopts with separate processes per tab and so forth, going with the Firefox beta isn't an appealing option. -
Inappropriate?Getting feedly on chrome will be really awesome! For now, Feedly has forced me to use firefox because it saves my time exploring my network.. But I have to say, chrome is really good..

Inappropriate?Understood. We built feedly on Firefox because it was the most open platform when we started the project and we love the firefox culture and community. We understand that some users prefer Chrome. Chrome is in the process of opening up and offering extensions API. As soon as they are available, we will offer feedly on both Chrome and Firefox so that you have the choice. Stay tuned.

Inappropriate?I totally agree. I have switched over to Chrome full-time and I'm only missing feedly.

Inappropriate?Once I touched Chrome I have started to hate other browsers(THEY ARE TOO SLOW.......@#$%#$ AND UGLY....!!!)
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?I'm patiently waiting...once Chrome opens up I'll be back to using Feedly on a more regular basis, but for now I'm back to Google Reader :(
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the update edwk! Be sure to keep us Chrome fans posted, and best of luck on your quest!

Inappropriate?Another +1 for a Chrome feedly. V8 vs. Tracemonkey misses the point -- for those of us who prefer Chrome, feedly requires the use of a second browser. Until feedly for Chrome is ready, would it be possible to have feedly open external links in Chrome?

Inappropriate?please add feedly to chrome :) firefox is sometimes very crasht, that's why on mac i switched on safari and on windows i'm on chrome...

Inappropriate? Why is Feedly an extension? If it had been a webapp it could've just run from any browser (only needing an extension for the website bar).

Inappropriate?Yeah, I'd loooove to have feedly on chrome ....how about an iPhone feedly app too ?
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate?Any update on Chrome progress?
-
Inappropriate?Chrome is the new Firefox. Firefox is the new IE. :-P ...really looking forward to a Chrome version.
-
Oh, now I don't know about that. That's a bit much. True, Chrome is fast and really elegant, but somewhat apples to oranges when trying to draw a comparison against FF -vs- IE. -
Agree with dep and Firefox doesn't have that much market share :P -
Inappropriate?dep: Yeah, a little hyperbolic, but I'm having a hard time making myself use FF these days. Too damn slow.
-
yeah. that's the chief complaint. I know they're working on that, though. It's hard to find a good balance between expandability and speed. Right now, that's part of what makes Chrome so fast. Once they add full extension support, you might see it start lagging a bit too. -
Inappropriate?Feedly is the only app that I keep Firefox around for, honestly. Please give Chrome some love.
-
i second that. -

Inappropriate?- I use it on safari (PPC mac/ not supported by chrome)
- cmd+t refreshes instead of opening a new tab (inconvienient)
- http://twitter.com/feedly_chrome has protected updates - big pity I would like it to be open.
- I would like a download link for chrome on the blog just like there is for firefox
- On the blog I'd like to see the last build/ version number.
- I fully understand how chromes current shortcomings hold up feedly's progress. Still I love feedly - so thanks again. I'm using version: 2.x.068 (build 3452) on Mac OSX 10.5 on an iMac PPC -
Don. These are all good suggestions. Please give us another 4 weeks of private beta so that we can polish all the rough edges and we will open it to the public -
Inappropriate?is there any timeline on when this would be available.. am a die hard fan of feedly and use it with FF 3.6 beta...would like to check it with Chrome (esp after adblock +.. its my fav browser)
I’m excited
-
It is available in private beta now. Please see http://blog.feedly.com/2009/10/09/fee... -
