Trying out feedly - a few comments
I tried switching from greader to feedly a few months ago and really didn't like it for some reason. I'm just trying it again now and I'm liking it a lot more this time. The layout, look and feel is so much nicer than google reader. A few comments:
1. When I browse by category I have the option to mark the entire category as read, but when I browse a single feed this option is missing.
2. I like the "keep as unread" function but again I only see this when browsing by category and not when looking at a single feed. Also it would be nice if I could mark an item as unread with one click without first having to preview the item.
3. Would like the option to mark as read without hiding the item.
4. The ad in the top right corner is a little annoying.
Other than that great app and I think I'll be sticking with feedly this time round.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the detailed feedback. Here are some responses to you questions:
1. When you drill down and browse a feed, you should see next to the feed name an oval with the unread count in it. If you click on it, it will mark the feed as read (I agree that it is not a consistent experience so I will talk to the team to make marking a subscription as read consistent with marking a category as read).
2. Keep unread should be there even when you are browsing a feed. Which view do you use (if you are using the entire content inlined, then the keep unread only appears when you mark the article as read or scroll through the article and it gets automatically marked as read).
3. Understood (please not that the hide thing is just relevant for the current browsing session - if you log out or restart firefox, the hide information is erased. Meaning that hiding is not harmful).
4. We are working hard to try to make the ad as valuable/targeted as possible. We will also offer soon a pro version which will be ad free.
Thank you for the valuable feedback: we are happy to try to help if you have any other questions -
Inappropriate? Thanks for your reply. In response to point 2:
I'm viewing my pages as "Title and Summary" and when I click on the item it goes to preview item. What I intially said was wrong. When I click on an unread item it previews it and I have the option to keep as unread. However if I close my browser and then reopen it, when I click on the item that is already marked as read I no longer have the option to keep as unread. The behaviour is consistent for both catergory and single feed views.
I would really prefer to use the visit option rather than preview for navigation in preferences but if I do this I lose the functionality to mark an item as unread.
Also when using the visit option and viewing by category, when I click on an unread item it doesn't update the unread count in the Sources panel on the right hand side.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?...hate to bring the bad news... adblock works on feedly, too.
(haven't seen much in terms of ads on the web in the last years)
I’m happy
