Unread count off again
I just got the unread count problem again.
Feed shows (and has) no unread articles but count shows 27.
Also, I have a feed with a bunch of unread articles. I use the mark all read at the bottom to mark the entire feed as read. But 60 articles come back when I refresh the subscription page and the feed count goes back to 60 as well.

Inappropriate? Here's another variation on the problem.
I clicked on an article from the cover page (feed prefs set to open articles in another tab). When I came back to cover the article was grayed to show it was read. When I refreshed, the article still was there on the cover and was back in blue.
Clicked on another feed's article to open that article in feedly. Went back to cover and got the same behavior with respect to that article.
Clicked on the category in cover. Went there and read an article inline. Back to cover and same issue with that article.
From cover, went to the feed page from which two of the three articles above came from. The two articles were listed on the page (despite unread only) with blue titles. Unread count (correctly) showed zero. -
Inappropriate?A couple of other people have complained about this type of problem. We have not been able to reproduce it but this is really important to the experience so we might take tomorrow off schedule and try to hunt this down and see if we can get to a reproducible test case. Thanks for the heads up.

Inappropriate?Update. We found a way to reproduce this problem. This time, instead of patching the holes, we are actually going to try to re-design and re-write this part of feedly. It might take a few days before we can get this fix out. Will provide an update tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.

Inappropriate?Update. Improved in 1.2.62. There is still an edge case around some feeds which generate multiple copies of the same feed (same title, same content length). Feedly merges those into a single article but is not smart enough to adapt the unread count. I will work on this next week. I am out of the office Thurs - Wed.
Phil: If you have the chance, can you please re-install from http://update.feedly.com/release/feed... and post install go to preferences and set mini to yes. Feedly mini will appear when you navigate to the sites directly and help mark articles as read, recommend, see comments, etc.. directly from the website. Would be interested to see if you find that useful, how you would enhance the concept and what additional dots you would add. Given that you have seen topics, topics will be added to mini at some point to. If you have the chance, please send me an email to edwink@devhd.com.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?I am also having a similar issue in v63. The latest page says I have 4770 unread articles, but based on the sources sidebar, there are only about 50 unread.
Update: It appears that the people I am following are now as sources under the "Other" category, and that is why the count is so high. -
Inappropriate?prattmic. Could you please attach a screenshot of both the page where you see the sidebar and your dashboard page?
Thanks,

Inappropriate? It seems to occur when it shows that I have some new articles and to refresh to see them. When I hit the refresh it put's the unread counter in whack!!

Inappropriate?Hello. What do you mean that it puts the unread count in whack? Question: do you use the mark page as read? How do you usually mark articles as read? A screenshot would be useful.
-
Inappropriate?Ok, I'll try to explain it as good as i can. Ok once i read all the articles in a subscription and the counter show's zero unread, sometimes a message pops up and says you have new articles refresh to see them. When I click on the refresh it brings back the articles I had already read and set's the counter back to what it was before I read them with the old articles that were marked read before. I would put screen shot's but it's so random that it's hard for me to get a good screen shot of what's actually occurring.
-
Inappropriate?Ok. Will make this the priority for the next couple of days. I have a favor to ask you. Next time this problem appears, please take a screenshot of the screen so that we know what the unread counts are, restart firefox and on restart see if the unread counts are identical or if they have changed. If they are identical and articles are show as unread, please let us know if those are articles you think you have read in the past or if those are truly new and unread (just not being displayed before the firefox restart). That would help putting us on the right track.
Thank you!

Inappropriate?Found one edge case. Fixed in 1.2.94. Not sure if that was the problem you where running into. Let us know. We will continue to review the code.

Inappropriate?Ok I just did a refresh when told I had new unread articles and it correctly brought up the new articles without bringing up the previously read articles. So far it looks like the counter is working correctly. I also noticed that it's correctly marking the articles now "read" as i scroll through and read the articles. Thanks so much for the quick fix!!! I will let you know if I run into further issues with the counter and provide the screenshot.
I’m thankful
