Weird annotation behavior in 1.0b3.18

I found an annotation glitch with 1.0b3.18 (1638). I added two annotations to an article and when I attempted to add a third, I mistakenly selected the entire article and it highlighted the whole article plus the other two annotations I already did. The problem is, I couldn't remove the third annotation because no annotation edit box popped up. I also cannot remove the previous two annotations. So now the article is stuck in a state where I can't add nor remove annotations. Is there a way to clear all annotations? Clicking the "X" in each of the existing does nothing. Most of this is user error, but the lack of recovery troubles me some.
