After signing up a month ago for a $25/mnth data plan....Iget my bill and all of sudden they are charging me with a $7/mnth "line activation fee"...no mention in the signed agreement I have with them.....sent a complaint to better business bureau...let you know how it works out....any one else with same prob????

Fido sold my mobile phone number to a marketing company called SMT marketing. These people phish customers over the phone by asking for such information as passport numbers and drivers license information. What's more is the calls will not stop coming from SMT telemarketing and fido will not block their number.

Need resolution ASAP - promised with a plan if I switch from another provider, but it was a lie?

I have been a Fido customer since 2004 and recently was about to leave for another provider but when Fido Customer Relations offered an excellent rate plan to stay, I reconsidered.

One thing that was very important to me was to consolidate accounts with my wife's phone (Bell Mobility) and it was assured to me that porting over my wife's account to Fido would allow her to keep her phone number and I could take advantage of an excellent plan for both accounts saving me a lot of money (they also included a great phone for free).

The offered plan consisted of 200 minutes, evenings and weekends free starting from 5 pm, Fido-to-Fido/Rogers/Rogers Home Phone free, Caller ID, text and Enhanced Voicemail all for a rock bottom rate with no system access fee. This is the plan I currently have and if my wife was to switch over from Bell, I could have that same plan for her as well, all on the same bill. This was all documented in my case file as per my request. I had thought Fido was a great provider for being able to provide this to me!

Low and behold, I switch my wife's phone over from Bell and ask to have the above plan instated as was promised, and much to my surprise/horror/disgust, the "supervisor" would not allow me to receive what was promised. Nevermind that I was a customer that was about to leave and then was promised the world to stay. And now that I do AND bring over business from Bell to Fido, I'm told that none of that matters and that is how things are.

Needless to say I fought long and hard for 90 minutes on the phone to get this resolved in a professional manner but the "best" I was offered was another plan that was not even close to what I was expecting. The person I spoke with was George (ID# 5362, who by the way did the best he could do to with what he was given) and the supervisor was Jean Sebastien (no ID given). Jean Sebastien refused to even speak with me on the phone when I asked to and I was put on hold for several minutes, several times. George came back saying that the supervisor would not speak with me, even though I had a rock solid case to speak with him. In any corporation, it is the supervisor's job to speak with the client when a situation escalates and this is unheard of.

If this problem does not get resolved ASAP, I will be switching my wife's phone AND my phone to Bell. As a long-time Fido customer that championed their service, I feel extremely cheated. I look forward to hearing from someone soon.

1 - My phone was stolen back in March and when I went into a Fido retail store to get some help, all I got was a HUGE crap load of attitude. This was my conversation between a Fido retail store worker:

Me: Hi, I just got my phone stolen. Can you help me?
Her: No, you have to call customer service.
My friend: She just got her phone stolen, can she use yours?
Her: *scoffs* follow me.

She gets the person on the phone. The person was FRENCH even though I clearly spoke to her in ENGLISH! Customer service rep puts me on hold for five minutes and then HANGS UP on me. I walk back to the retail store worker and this was the rest of that encounter

She was talking to her friend when I approached,
Her: *rolls eyes* yes?
Me: the rep hung up on me
Her: OK? What do you want me to do about that?
Me and my friend: CALL HER BACK!
Her: *scoffs* just pick up the phone. it's a direct line!

2 - I ordered a new phone March 13th. It got lost. I called Fido on several occasion and all they were able to tell me was, "We're launching an inquiry on it now. We will call you back in 2 days." They NEVER called back. So I called them back, no answer. They call me back the next day to tell me to pick it up in store. I go to the store the next day... and talked to two store reps who both denied me my phone. I called Fido customer service and let the two reps argue about it with the phone rep. In the end, I got my phone, but I was also put on a value plan that I NEVER knew about. They had basically lied to me to get me to renew a 3 year contract and then a month after I had renewed it, decided to treat me like crap!

I have been a Fido customer since 2005.

I would NEVER recommend Fido to ANYONE and if anyone was planning on going with Fido, I would DEFINITELY STOP THEM!

I don't know any other phone company who would treat their customers with such disrespect. They wasted so much of my time. I am a student in the middle of finals, a practicum and a part time job, I don't have time for them to waste.

I also do not know of any other company with such a lack of communication between departments!

I am a subscriber of fido and wish to see my bill online so that I don't waste paper. I need to be able to view my bill in order to pay it correctly.

1. The first error is seemingly random and sporadic and is dependent on #2 not being a problem. When trying to access the bill I get the error:

"Your Bill Cannot Be accessed at this time"

2. The second is more less routed in a defect, but more in an improper method. I use a mac and I have a big problem being able to view my bill online because my browser cannot find the proper plugin. When inquiring about this, I received a message from a representative that I should see the system requirements:

Use of the Mozilla Firefox browser is recommended, after having installed the "PDF Browser Plugin". Please note that Intel Mac owners must open Firefox using Rosetta, without which Firefox will not recognize the "PDF Browser Plugin".

Needless to say, these requirements are more than recommendations and without them my bill is unusable. I have a few gripes with the requirements themselves, but I will let the audience form their own opinion.

Hi.
I have an odd issue. I can not receive any phone calls. I still receive text messages but no calls. I also do get those 8888 messages about Who Called though. What happens is that when people call me then they just go straight to a voice mail or get a dial sound and then they reach voice mail, but that is about all.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fido is not man's best friend. It is doing dogs a great disservice by trying to associate their brand with these great animals. I signed my contract with Fido in July '08 and my experience was awful from day one. Their customer service leaves more than a little something to be desired, one of the managers said, and I quote, "the fact that you're upset has no bearing on my life." Everytime I call them the impression I get is "sorry ma'am, but you're SOL." This is not acceptable and something has to be done about this company. They make Rogers look good, which makes me wonder if it is a ploy to make Rogers look like a good company seeing as how it has also gained a reputation for having horrendous customer service. Every person I have spoken to has had the same experience with Fido. If I can't find a way out of my contract I am going to pay to get out. I'm not going to get in to how ineffective their web site is...

How come we cannot get a hold of anyone. Between my husband and myself we have been kept on hold for four hours today. Doesn't anyone work there? We were told that a new i-phone would be sent out to us since our recently purchased i-phone was defective from day one and here we are- almost four weeks later- and we're still waiting , Fido is a terrible communications company. We're sorry the guy who sold us the phone switched us to Fido. Our son is with Rogers and his i-phone has worked from day one and he has no trouble speaking to customer service reps at rogers. Is anyone holding down the fort at Fido? In Dr. Phil's words, that dog don't hunt. Anyone else have similar problems and solutions? We're at the end of our rope. They have no customer service. just a 1-888 number.

Is anyone else having trouble receiving Twitter updates via SMS using Canada's +21212 number with Fido?

My 2 year term expired in May of 2008. Prior to it expiring I called Fido to ask what the benefit was to renewing it and was told that I could get a new phone. I then asked if my plan would remain the same if I did not lock it back in and was told yes.

Consequently I have been called at least 4 or 5 times by their customer service people and asked if I would like to renew and get a new phone , I told them I did not need a new phone and always ended the conversation by asking that would my plan remain the same if I did not lock in,I was told that I would then be month to month but that my plan would not change.

Just this past December when I called in I find out that my plan has gone up by $10 a month (since June 2008, I did not notice earlier as my Fido bill is charged directly to my Visa and as my bill fluctuates due to long distance calls I never noticed it earlier ) and it can't be reversed as supposedly that plan is no longer available (what about the people that did renew their term and kept their price plan at $10 less, surely their plan is still the same one) .

This really upsets me as they pulled this on me once before regarding the so called "Government System Access Fee" , which I had to pay as I missed the deadline by 2 or 3 days. Now 2 things about this: a) it was never a "Government Fee" b) this time around when I was speaking with them regarding the increase in my price plan I was told that had I called in within 90 days of it being implemented it would have been reversed, why was the "Governmet Fee" not reversed as I called in within 3 days. My plan has gone from $40 per month to $56.95 .

My bill accounts for $1500 to $2000 per year to them , not huge , but not small account either.

I keep hearing " we are sorry that you were told this but there is nothing we can do" .

I spoke with 2 or 3 supervisors and then a manager.They have made me a short term offer that was not satisfactory. I have now had to write a letter to the executive of the company , as the manager tells there is nothing more he can dfo for me and will not take my calls.

If they do not resolve this issue not only will I move my account to another company. I will also file a complaint with the CRTC regrding the socalled "Government System Access Fee' as it is illegal for them to have conned us in to paying it by saying that it was imposed by the government.

Etremely Pissed Off!

Since Fido merged with Rogers, their customer care people have made so many mistakes that I can't be sure from one month to the next what my charges will be or what's going on with my account. In the last year, I've had to repeat my calls to Fido to make sure they're getting it right. I shouldn't have to call up a customer care person, go through the run-around with them, and then say "okay, I'm gonna call back to get a second opinion." But I've had to talk to up to four different people and gotten four different answers about the same issue.

I think that Rogers is trying to get Fido customers to switch to Rogers, so they can kill Fido. That's the only explanation I can think of.

I've been with Fido from 2003 - 2008, average $100/month.

My bills have often been contradictory to the information they've given me. There have been two occasions where my bills have been at least $200 more than they should have been, and in both cases I had to talk with multiple Fido representatives, who gave me different explanations of the cause, and different solutions.

For example, I was told that I would need a $5/month feature that would allow me to talk outside my calling area, so that roaming charges wouldn't get applied to my account. After about a year and a half of this, I was told by another representative that it wasn't necessary, and they were kind enough to credit me $60 to compensate. That brought my account back into order, but I received another call the next day with a different story. The $60 was in fact never credited or recorded on the account, and Fido cut my service because I was past due on my bill (which I thought was resolved the day before).

To their credit, Fido offered to reduce my monthly bills by $10 each for a year. I quit my service with them after four months of this, but I verified that they were indeed doing this. They also paid one of my bills which was $92.

I've been told by one Fido representative that recording my conversations with them violates their terms of service, and by another that it's illegal. But I wish I'd been recording the whole ordeal. It would make my life quite a bit simpler. I feel so exploited and frustrated, it would be nice to have something concrete to back up my claims.

This month, I got a phone call from a cheerful Fido rep saying he was going to send me a new phone, which was an upgrade to the one I already had. I was ecstatic, because my Nokia 6300b had died of water damage and the software had always been really backward compared to the awesome hardware.

The rep made mistakes with my postal code that caused the package to be delayed, and it was only while I was trying to investigate this with another Fido rep that I learned why I was getting the new phone: because of the 3-year agreement I'd just signed up to. I said: what three-year agreement? So Fido signed me up without my consent and without notifying me, and only another of their own mistakes kept me from being legally locked into a three-year term with them.

Before Fido's merger with Rogers, I always had great service and reliable information. I had no problems with them. I switched to Fido after having a nasty time with Telus, but my experience with Fido in the last few years has been far worse.
