Matchup Comments Not Useful
The comment function: is that on each individual matchup? That seems like fragmentation to the extreme.

Inappropriate?Yep. There's going to be a lot of fragmentation at the margins, but we're hoping to see a lot of solid arguments around popular movies (Star Wars vs. Star Trek, Bond vs. Bond, Ghostbusters vs. BttF, etc.). We're taking a chance on it, but people seem to enjoy it so far.
Soon, the matchup comments will be cross-referenced on the individual movie pages, so on the page for Lebowski you'll see comments about Lebowski in general, as well as in the context of various matchups.
Part of the inspiration for the matchup comments, btw, comes from a site I used to waste time on in college called WWWF Grudgematch [www.grudge-match.com]. The guys propose a kinda nuts matchup, like John McClane vs. the Death Star, and then argue about it to an academic extreme. It's stupid and useless, but also fantastic and wonderful.
So...maybe that gives a little context. "Useful" might be a less accurate description of what we're going for, which really is a verbalization of how some of these folks actually compared the two movies -- I mean, how the heck do you analyze Monsters, Inc. vs. Cube?

Inappropriate?Let me just get it out of the way immediately: the matchup comments are STILL useless, from your perspective.
But they are prettier. We've eliminated the two-column design that was causing mass confusion among users (all but, um, two of us...it would seem), and replaced it with a nicer-looking, less cluttered, and hopefully much more intuitive interface. You can check it out from the Discussions link on the top menu bar, or by various other discussion links throughout the site.
