Re-arrange rankings manually
The current system of match-ups is fun. It would be helpful if you could drag and drop movies where you want them outside of the match-up system. Say I have a concrete top 10 in mind, i could quickly drag and drop movies into that order without having to deal with annoying and repetitive matchups to accomplish it. Like I said the match-ups are fun and awesome but can be annoying if you have a specific order in mind.

Jaydon,
In addition to adding complexity to the UI, we don't think that dragging & dropping movies in your list is the best way to go about achieving your goal.
Did you try using the Top 20 filter (above the posters, click Top Movies, then Your Top 20) to rank only within the movies in your Top 20? You can shake out the list pretty quickly ranking just within that filter. Be sure to try the others as well (50, 100, 250).
We are working on more features that will make it even easier to select films to rank, so stay tuned for that.

Inappropriate?Sorry to see the reply. I won't be staying around. This feature is absolutely critical, otherwise the "flickcharts" are a massive waste of my time. This is because it is very easy to wind up with a movie you don't like very much near the top of your charts (because it was presented to you early on), or a movie you love near the bottom.
In particular, the first situation will take many many thousands of clicks to remedy. A manual movement would allow me to fix the problem instantly.

Ted, if there are films in your Top 20 you don't want to be there, just click them (in your Top 20 on the left) and then choose "Remove from my Flickchart". They'll be completely removed from your list, but they'll come up again while ranking. This way you can remove anything you deem that doesn't belong in their current positions, and re-rank them later.
Again, we don't think that simply shifting titles around via drag & drop or some other fashion lets you make the hard decisions in the way that having each pair presented to you does - so it's not in line with our methodology of the process of deciding a pair at a time. -
Inappropriate?Oh, that is probably sufficient to make me happy. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Nathan, hey it's your guys site. I just will never be able to achieve my list in the right way within the confines of the match-up only methodology. I understand your in beta and the big draw here is the match-up system, which as I said earlier is fun and really a cool idea, but if you wanted people to be able to actually have a proper list then the drag drop would help a lot.
However, someone else suggested a forced matchup feature and another suggested a gauntlet mode. If you could program the gauntlet to go in a specific order up the list (but also maintain the choice for the gauntlet to be at random) then you would be able to position films exactly where you want them within the confines of the match-up system. This way you don't alienate your system and people like me can really do work on a true list with much more ease than the filter system.
Anyway, thanks for your reply. Hope to see a gauntlet system and a requested matchup system some time.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Jaydon I was about to give up on the site after a trial run. However, having discovered the "re-rank this movie" and "remove from flickchart" features I would say I am satisfied.
I've had mixed restuls with re-rank. When it frustrates me enough I remove then re-rank.
I would still prefer a drag and drop, although like you say it's their site and they deem the one-on-one choice system to be critical. -
Inappropriate?Jaydon & Ted - Yeah, it's our site, but we want you guys to have fun with it. We could've just made it for ourselves and locked it away otherwise.
Absolutely agreed on gauntlet and easier/better re-ranking and pairing of movies. All that's coming along with the new algorithm, and there's high probability of it kicking butt.
