Recommend Movies Based on User Movie Lists
@flickchart i'd really like to see my recommendations based on the same concept driving the "my top movies."

Inappropriate?Could you go into this a little more as to what exactly you're looking for?
Right now, you can see a list of all of the movies you haven't seen on your profile, ordered by the popularity of Flickchart users.
We do plan to enhance recommendations in a lot of other way based on your friends' tastes, and others that are similar to you - so perhaps that will be more what you're looking for.

Inappropriate?Spending a ton of time to rank movies is fun at first, but there's really no bang for the buck so to speak. It would be great if by ranking all of these movies I would also get recommendations based on my top 20. Your collecting a ton of information about my tastes that could be put to good use. Say a new movie comes out, if the synopsis matches my tastes why not put it in a movies to see queue or something similar. Also it would be cool to have the option to mark a movie that I haven't seen before as "need to rent" or something. Hence giving me a reason to return to the site more frequently or at least more than this one time.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Holdon,
We have a lot on our plates at the moment, but recommendations are on the list -- that's a natural for the focus of the site. We've also got plans to do some things with movies currently in the theater.
For the "stickiness" of the site, we'll be broadening our social functions on the site to make interacting with friends more natural and fun. That includes on-site discussions (which we had for a while, but removed while we retool them), more personalized lists, in-depth user stats, ranking and commenting on other people's lists, recommendations for what groups of people should see by cross-referencing their haven't seens, enhanced interaction with FriendFeed and Facebook, and so on. We have a lot of plans in the works, and are always open to more ideas.
