Flickr Uploadr 3.0 for the Mac has bugs
Though it looks quite nice, I've experienced several issues since downloading the recent version (I'm running a Macbook Pro, Leopard, with 2gigs of RAM):
- When launching the app for the first time, it never opened the interface window, just hung there. A restart resolved this, though I'm not sure if it will happen again
- The Upload Photos button didn't initially show up at all. I had to add several photos into the queue before the button appeared.
- Uploads do not always complete, but there is no status

Inappropriate?Thor,
There is a bug in the release that causes the Upload button not to appear if you drag photos to the dock icon (which is of course what most of us Mac users do). If you use the Add button or drag your photos into the window itself, things function as they should. I'm working on the fix for this as we speak and should have a new release soon.
The initial launch jitters may be related to a couple of other bugs between Leopard and XULRunner. Because it has to setup your profile the first time, it actually launches, shuts down and launches again. Perhaps it wasn't successful when launching itself again. I hope this was a one-time-only quirk.
I am not exactly sure what you mean in the last bullet point but I am working on more stable uploads. In general, large uploads are rather fragile but there are still many things I can do to make it better. Could you describe more specifically what's happening to you?

Inappropriate?Excellent to hear, Richard. I'll chalk it up to Leopard funkiness and update you if I have any more detail on other bugs. Keep up the great work.
I’m happily uploading away

Inappropriate?I, too, had the disappearing upload button problem.
I prepped a bunch of photos for upload while waiting for a flight, and then I hit the upload button. But before I could finish the upload, I had to board, so I quit the Uploadr fearing I'd have to redo all my captioning work.
When I got home and fired up Uploadr again, I was pleased to see that it remembered which photos I had added to be uploaded! That's great! But it didn't remember all my captions - only some of them.
AND... the "Upload" button had disappeared, even though my photos were still all displayed and hadn't been uploaded yet. Deleting a photo and adding a new one to the batch from my hard drive suddenly made the button reappear, though.
FYI, I'm still on Tiger 10.4.11
Thanks!
I’m pleased and confused at the same time!

Inappropriate? My uploads fail about 75% of the time "Bonk... Houston we have a problem" cute, but not very informative. Usually batches of about 3-5 photos max 1024px each. There is definitely nothing wrong with my network connection. At least the upload button is back with the new version, when exporting from Lightroom. Running on OS X Leopard.
Running Little Snitch but All Connections are allowed for the Uploadr. Through a Linksys WRT54GL to cable internet.

Inappropriate? My uploads fail frequently. Sometimes photos Uploadr said didn't make it are actually there, so I get duplicates. I'm running Leopard 10.5.1, MacBook Pro, Flickr Uploadr 3.0.2, over a DSL connection (both 802.11g and wired Ethernet; both fail). Activity MOnitor reports a good 88-94 KBps upload speed to the network. Once in a while Uploadr will still say it's cranking away uploading a photo while Activity Monitor shows no upload activity, but most of the time Uploadr says that all or some of my photos didn't make it.
I don't see network-related error messages in my logs when Uploadr fails, and other applications don't experience network interruptions. The only related message I find is:
1/12/08 12:58:33 PM [0x0-0x18d18d].com.flickr.uploadr[3873] Trying to position a sizeless window; caller should have called sizeToContent() or sizeTo(). See bug 75649.
Flickr, thanks for addressing these problems. -
Inappropriate?same "Houston, we have a problem" here with the latest mac 3.0.2 uploadr. I'm trying to upload a batch of 250 photos. In 75% of the cases the upload will fail after uploading 1 to 5 images, in the other 25% of the cases no uploads succeed at all. My internet connection is working fine and other than uploading photos I'm not downloading/uploading anything else.
It does seem to correctly determine which photos have succesfully made it to my flickr account, so it looks like I'm just going to have to hit the 'try again' button repeatedly for the rest of the day until they're all uploaded.

Inappropriate? My uploads fail after five or six photographs.

Inappropriate?I was able to fix stalling updates from my mac by slightly reducing the "MTU" setting on my router. Search Flickr FAQ discussions for this suggestion.

Inappropriate?I'm having the last bullet point problem Thor describes -- the "Bonk!" message when attempting an upload even though my internet connection is fine. Running on exact same OS (Leopard, MacBook Pro, 2 gigs RAM), also running Lil Snitch but all connections are allowed. Just (Oct 2008) downloaded the uploader, too, so it's supposed to be the "fixed bugs" latest release. But still, I bonk out and haven't been able to upload anything.
Spent a good two hours filling in my metadata and really don't wanna lose it if I go use the web uploader.
