always open all bookmarks in new tabs
I'd like the option to have all bookmarks, tool bar searches, and home page button always default open in a new tab with one click. I wish to never be surfed away from a current tab especially sites I'm signed in just because I clicked on another bookmark.

Inappropriate?Hi Mel,
Did you know that if you have a 3-button mouse (or one with a clickable mouse wheel) you can middle-click on any link or bookmark to open it in a new tab? This is one of my favourite features... :)
If you don't have a 3-button mouse, then clicking while holding down the Ctrl key should also work.
Hope that helps!

Your tip is helpful but it would be much nicer if you could do this with the LMB via a setup in options. -
Inappropriate? The middle-mouse click, while it takes a short bit to get used to, works great for this; and bonus, it works in pretty much ALL the major browsers, so once you learn it, you're golden no matter how you surf!

Inappropriate? One thing you could do is look on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire... , most Firefox extensions work with Flock, and there may well be an extension that does what you are looking for.
-
What version of Flock is this? I'm running 1.2.7 and I don't have half those options and the updater says there are no current updates available. -
Mel, you can get Flock 2.0.3 here:
http://www.flock.com/download/ -
Please be aware that setting the third option (links in web pages) to New Tab may cause problems on some web pages. See the problem described in "Flock will not upload javascript" and "Why won't javascript upload?".
I would recommend keeping the third option as "the current tab." -
Inappropriate?I'm using v.2.0.3, ... though i've seen people saying they are using a v.2.7, but i don't see that coming up on the updater either.
I downloaded straight from the Flock site this past weekend. -
They must mean 1.2.7. There's no version 2.7. -
Inappropriate?OK I've got ver 2.0.3 and it works exactly as I need it for bookmarks and they now open all in new tabs like they should. I'm using the dreaded middle button(wheel) to open my homepage in a new tab. The last thing that's still a pain is the browser search function. I have to open a new tab before I execute the search or I am surfed away from whatever current tab is open. Does anyone have a better fix for this? Thanks for all your help.

Inappropriate? It's not an autonomous fix, but one thing you can do, is...
after typing in your search term, instead of hitting enter, hit Alt+Enter.
HTH! :) -
Eureka!
Thank you Eidylon. :-)
That also answers MY question - how to get something typed into Address Bar to open in new tab.
(Though I'd still like this as a permanent "preference" as it annoys me when I forget to add that li'l "Alt"!) -
Inappropriate?Hi Mel,
Yes, there is a hidden pref you can toggle to have search results open in a new tab. Go to the URL "about:config" and look for a pref called "browser.search.openintab". Then just double-click it to toggle it to TRUE. That should do it!

this is one of the best points

Thanks Chris that makes my day. I made the change and I've got the browser now working the way I need it to. -
Inappropriate?I want to open favorites links from menu and from toolbar in new tab with javascript ! It's possible?
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Hi ,All
The last post has incomplete!
I mean that I shoud find a way to access the bookmark links in my web application.
Next I want to open this in the new tab.
Thanks,
Tina -
Inappropriate?well, the Flock people would have to answer that ultimately, but i doubt you can do that. Allowing a web application to just reach out and call any part of the browser it wants would really go against the best practices of the security model for the web.
You might be able to write some kind of mozilla plugin or activex control or something like that that would do what you want. -

Inappropriate?ok then how i can create one plugin ore one firefox extension for this?
If i can write in c# will be better.
Thanks,eidylon for answer -
I've never personally written any mozilla addons.
