Can't Favorite any pages in Flock browser
My Favorites is no longer working in Flock on my desktop. Whenever I click on "Favorite this page" nothing happens - whether it's from the Favorites menu or right clicking on the web page. However, I have no problems doing this on my laptop.

Inappropriate? That's exactly what happened to me. When favorites didn't work, I restarted Flock and then everything disapeared, the whole sidebar, accounts, feeds,....

Inappropriate?Hey Adam,
This is very odd. Are you trying to favorite the page via the Flock Star or via the Favorites Menu? Are both of those broken?
Do you have any extensions installed? Sometimes extensions can inadvertently restrict the browser interface. If you have any, try disabling them all. If that fixes the problem, re-enable them one-by-one to find the culprit.

Inappropriate?I have the same issue (going to Favorites pulldown, clicking "Favorite This Page" and nothing happens, PLUS my media streams are gone, my sidebar doesn't function (lost all feeds and people services), and I cannot access Accounts and Services (nothing comes up in the sidebar).
I even renamed "flock-data.sqlite" to "oldflock-data.sqlite", with no change.
I'm running version 2.0.3 on Windows XP Pro.
I’m annoyed

Inappropriate?Hey Scott,
Seems like there is something very funky going on with your installation. Try this:
1. Shut down Flock
2. Use another browser to download Flock 2.0.3 from www.flock.com
3. Go to C:\Program Files and delete the "Flock" folder (this does not contain any of your favorites, feeds, etc...it's just the stuff to make Flock run)
4. Run the installer you downloaded
5. Start Flock
In theory this should get rid of whatever went wrong with your installation, assuming that is the problem. Let me know if this helps at all...if not, we'll try some other solutions.

I’m bummed, but hoping we can fix this
-
Evan, did exactly that -- deleted the Progarm Files folder, ran the 2.0.3 setup file, then opened Flock -- same thing. Also, a note: my Flock used to be protected by a Master Password, which prompted BEFORE it would open. It no longer does that either.
Should I take my profile folder in appdata, move it off my computer, and uninstall/reinstall? I may lose favorites and such, but I'd rather rebuild on a WORKING Flock than carry on with a wounded Flock. -
Hey Scott,
It does sound like your profile is fouled up. I think getting rid of it is the best call. BUT, you don't have to lose favorites or feeds. Check out Step 4 on this page for instructions on exporting them before you kill your profile: http://www.flock.com/update/2.0.3/en-US/tuneup/
I am sorry that you'll have to kill your profile...while this is not the norm, there are issues for some people when moving from Flock 1.x to 2.x, because the code is so different. We're constantly working to improve migration, but there are certainly still kinks to be worked out. Firefox has many of these kinks too, so hopefully they are working on them as well and we can improve the situation in the future.

Inappropriate?Have you checked under Unsorted Favorites?

"Have you checked under Unsorted Favorites?"
Wow. Brilliant diagnostic work. -
Inappropriate?I am very frustrated also. When I try to add a favorite by clicking on the blue star it does nothing. I get a message saying it added the page to my local favorites. But if you look they are not there. Also the edit properties button does nothing. I prefer to save my favorites to delisious and add tags like I used to be able to do. Now nothing works.
I’m very frustrated

Inappropriate?Hello Rioghailclan,
I am sorry to hear this problem. Would you tell me which version of Flock are you using by going to Help -> About Flock, please?
If you are not in Flock 2.5, I would recommend you to download Flock 2.5 at http://www.flock.com/download. If you are in Flock 2.5 or downloaded Flock 2.5, please export your favorites and backup your Flock profile which can be found at :
Mac OS X: The profile folder is in a folder named "Flock," and you'll find it on this path:
(your home folder)>Library>Application Support>Flock
Linux: ~/.flock/browser/
Windows Vista: C:\Users\Yourloginprofile\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser\Profile
2000 and XP:C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Flock\Browser\
Rename the Flock profile to Flockbackup
Then install Flock 2.5.
Please let me know whether it works for you or not.
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Patricia That doesn't work for me either... I am using Mac OSX
-
Shannon,
When you said "That doesn't work for me either... I am using Mac OSX", were you saying you could't find the Flock profile or renaming the Flock profile was not working for you? If this is for finding Flock profile, you can find it at (your home folder)>Library>Application Support>Flock. If starting with a clean Flock profile still doesn't work, please describe the problems.
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?I just upgraded from the last 1.x to 2.5. I lost my favorites and my favorites on my sidebar, but my accounts and services stayed correct. And I just got the dang things organized too.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?ThePinkPhantom,
Take a look at Evan's Solution for your issue. It should restore all of your favourites.
Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience!

Inappropriate?I have not been able to click on the star icon to add favorites. Nothing happens when I click on it. I now add a favorite to my bookmarks by dragging the URL icon to the miniature stars icon (the three stars between the mail and key icons). Unfortunately, I cannot add keywords to this favorite. To overcome that I try to use the edit properties function, but just like the malfunctioning star icon, nothing happens when you click Properties. This is very frustrating. Flock has been problematic since I started using it; spontaneous loss of some type of functionality here or there for no reason. The fact that others have the same problem speaks to a problem with Flock, not with individual profiles. I use Mac with Leopard installed, and have the latest version of Flock. Is there a general solution to the Favorites star button problem?
I’m continually disappointed with Flock

@DrPr,
Do you have any extensions installed? If so, could you please disable them and see if that resolves your issue?
If disabling the extensions does not resolve the issue, could you please:
1) Back up your Feeds and Favorites (http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_86757)
2) Close Flock
3) Optional step: back up your Flock profile (http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799)
4) Now go to your profile directory. Go to (your home folder)>Library>Application Support>Flock
5) Look for the file called "flock-data.sqlite" and rename it to "flock-data-backup.sqlite"
6) Restart Flock.
7) Bookmark any site
Does this resolve your issue?
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?I did this: (similar to your solution but prevents me from losing all of the sidebar items I have saved):
1) Went to user--> library --> application support -->Flock--> Profiles and searched through it for "flock-data.sqlite"
2) Renamed it to "flock-data.sqlite OLD"
3) Restarted Flock.
4) Named the new flock-data.sqlite file "flock-data.sqlite OLD OLD" and changed "flock-data.sqlite OLD" back to its original name: "flock-data.sqlite".
It's that last step that brings back my old information.
This solution fixes other problems I've had with Flock, so I've used it several times. There needs to be a solution that prevents these annoying problems from coming up in the first place, though. Every time a problem occurs no one knows for sure what caused it.
I’m frustrated
-
@DrPr,
The favoriting issue could be caused by a corruption in your flock-data.sqlite file. To confirm this, one can simply start Flock with a clean and new flock-data.sqlite file.
By renaming "flock-data.sqlite OLD" back to "flock-data.sqlite", you're basically using the same old, possibly corrupted file, which will not resolve the issue.
Hence, I'd suggest to follow the exact steps I listed above. By backing up the feeds and favorites first (in step 1), you can re-import them back after step 7, once you're running Flock with a clean and new flock-data.sqlite file (automatically generated at step 6).
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?I've done it your way with no relief from the problem - not only does it eventually have problems again, but I've also had to re-add the things I'd lost in the side panel. When I do it my way, the problems eventually return as well, but I don't lose my saved sites and info.
I’m Still frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hey DrPr,
Unfortunately what you are doing is continuing to use the same "flock-data.sqlite" folder, which we suspect is corrupted. What you should do is rename it (as Sophie suggested) and never rename it - the goal is to abandon this folder forever. If any of your data is missing, you should be able to re-import it (since Sophie had you back it up in earlier steps).
Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding the issue, but I think the main problem is that you're still using the (potentially corrupted) "flock-data.sqlite" folder.
