Expanding Flocks Accounts and Services
Accounts and Services really need to be modular or more customizable. I don't have accounts with MySpace or LiveJournal, for example, but I do have accounts with LinkedIn, Tumblr, and more that aren't here. And Magnolia managed to wipe themselves out (almost literally--all their data, anyway).
It would be great to be able to go to an Accounts and Services tab in Preferences and check off what services we use so we only see those. And a lot more services need to be added. I know it's hard to keep up, and you guys are doing a great job.

Inappropriate?Hey Matt,
I've seen this request before and it always bewilders me a bit. Do you use the Accounts&Services sidebar regularly? I'm trying to understand why having other services listed there is troublesome for you - it's just a list of supported services, not something you have to interact with.
I'd love to hear some clarification - I don't understand this request but I want to!
Ma.gnolia has been removed in Flock 2.5 - which you should totally download because it's awesome. :)

Well, sure. It's open all the time. When I want to access a given account, I just click it in the list.
I suspect the developers of Flock anticipate users do this by choosing them from Favorites. But Favorites is where _all_ the bookmarks go, and it's much easier to get straight to our accounts by choosing them directly from accounts without having to worry about digging through folders and doing a lot scrolling and such. -
So you're literally using this to navigate to the homepages of these sites? Suddenly I am understanding.
Did you know that if you click the service name ("Twitter") at the top of the People Sidebar it'll take you to those sites? Or is the point that you're clicking these to sign in?

I use the Accounts and Services only for accessing Webmail. It's set up conveniently for my use. Unfortunately I do not need categories like People and Blogging. They take up valuable space (even when collapsed.) In the Webmail category I wish to remove "AOL Mail" and instead place another webmail option (my school). "AOL Mail" slot takes up valuable space. Since there is no customization of Accounts and Services, I can not customize it to my needs. That is quite bad.
Thank you -
Inappropriate?I actually did not know that. Flickr's not People, so... But I get it now.
So the Accounts and Services sidebar is intended to be just a set-it-up-and-get-it-working type of thing? The idea is, once all the services that a Flock user uses is set up within Flock, then the user shouldn't need to return to the Accounts and Services sidebar as long as everything is working? -
Inappropriate?Pretty much, but it's interesting to me that you use it in this way. Perhaps this is how the other folks asking for customization here use it.
Does the method I suggested help, or is it more awkward for you to do it that way?

Your suggested method works fine, and I can see how the other services are intended to work within Flock's workflow. It's just that using the Accounts and Services sidebar is nice because everything is there together. I think the confusion comes in because all of the other sidebars are used as a way to regularly access what they represent, so the expectation is that the Accounts and Services sidebar would be that way as well. If the Accounts and Services sidebar is really intended to be just a setup-for-use sort of thing, then its functioning should probably be relocated to a preferences or options tab or a menu. -
Inappropriate? It would work great both ways. Why can't there be a little plus sign at the bottom of the Accounts and Services menu where we can add what we want? It's great to stay logged in at the sites but I also use it as a quick way to get to the pages. I'd like to add Netflix or other accounts.
