Flickr Login Issue Fixed in Flock 2.5.1
Hey Flockstars,
The Flickr login issue preventing Flickr from activating within Flock's features (as mentioned here and here) has been fixed in Flock 2.5.1, which is now available at http://www.flock.com.
For now you will have to manually upgrade to Flock 2.5.1 by downloading and running the installer from the website. We'll activate auto-updates after they receive further testing (don't worry: manually upgrading is tested and safe). Once you've installed the update, we recommend restarting your computer. After that, Flickr should be working as expected in your copy of Flock!
If the issue is still occurring after you've upgraded, please let us know.
Thanks for your patience during this admittedly frustrating issue!

Inappropriate?Logs in to Flickr but logs out of Yahoo when it does so and vica versa!...strange really as Flickr uses Yahoo log in details. Not showing any of my Flickr contacts in the people side bar either.
Doesn't seem to be remembering Flickr/Yahoo log in details all though is set to.
Edit...Forgot to mention only having these problems on lap top running Vista, on lap top running XP all seems to be ok!
-
@Jan,
Please :
- make sure you have installed and are running Flock 2.5.1 (from www.flock.com)
- log out of your Flickr and Yahoo Mail accounts from the service's sites (i.e at www.flickr.com, www.yahoo.com and mail.yahoo.com)
- forget all your Flickr and Yahoo Mail accounts from the Accounts and Services sidebar
- restart the browser
- log back in to Flickr.
Hope that helps,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Have Flock 2.5.1 on both lap tops...have done as you suggested above still the same.
Shows my contacts for Facebook and Twitter account in people side bar but not for Flickr.
-
Inappropriate?thank you! seems to work for me just by starting up the new version (i didn't have to forget accounts or anything else)
I’m happy again
-
Inappropriate?Just put the computers on, on the one running Vista and i find neither Yahoo or Flickr accounts logged in automatically but other accounts did, logged into Flickr manually, still no Flickr contacts in people side bar, logged into Yahoo and it logged me out of Flickr, logged into Flickr and it logged me out of Yahoo.
So, still the same as it was last night, not remembering Flickr/Yahoo log in details.
On the one running XP all seems ok except i've just noticed that in the people side bar for my Flickr contacts, it's not showing the most recent uploads, shows most recent media upload as Friday 5th June!...i know people have uploaded photos since then!
-
Inappropriate?Hi! I did the update and it works fine for 2 over 3 flickr accounts. For the third account I can log in, but I get no contacts and the "lonely in here?" message.
I've this issue in both my PC and my laptop, running win7RC.
The account that didn't work is briefly shown as a number, then with it's name, but with the friend list blank.
I’m a little disappointed
-
Inappropriate?I downloaded it from the Flock website but the download file shows 2.5 and so does the version after I install it. Should it now show 2.5.1 in the download file?
I’m disappointed
-
Found the problem.... the versions page links to 2.5.1 but when clicking on the button to download Flock from the home page it still downloads 2.5 only (for Linux at least). -
@Danie,
Would you do a hard refresh(ctrl+reload) on the http://www.flock.com, then download Flock 2.5.1, please?
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Still Flock does not remember Flickr/Yahoo log in, still have to sign in manually and still signing in one signs me out of the other (and visa versa)...pain!
Oh and still no Flickr contacts in the people side bar! -
Inappropriate?Still having issues on 2.5.2 on Win7 64bit. Flickr will stay logged in for a few hours then log out. Seems to be working fine on my XP machine.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Still not working for me either. Please can we have an update?

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Still not working! HELP PLEASE.

Inappropriate?@Diane DiDonato,
To avoid confusion, please refer to your other thread here:
http://getsatisfaction.com/flock/topi...
Thanks.
@Eileen and Jan,
Could you please provide us with additional information?
Can you confirm whether the issue is resolved after the following steps:
1) install and run Flock 2.5.2 (downloadable from www.flock.com)
2) disable any extensions, toolbars, or themes you might have
3) forget your configured Flickr and Yahoo Mail accounts from the Accounts and Services sidebar
4) clear all Flickr and Yahoo Mail cookies
5) force a service update. To do this,
For Windows: go to Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Update, and click on the "Force Service Update" button.
For Mac: go to Flock >> Preferences... >> Advanced >> Update, and click on the "Force Service Update" button.
6) very important: restart the browser, or even, restarted the entire computer
7) go to www.flickr.com and log back in
If the above doesn't resolve the issue, please:
a) type "about:webdetective" (without the quotes) in the URL bar and press ENTER. Copy and paste here the line that mentions Flickr. It should look similar to flickr: $Id: flickr.xml 22652 2009-07-03 19:06:53Z campbell $
b) tell us what exactly you are seeing or not seeing? Do you get any error message?
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Sophie - I've been talking with Evan on this same issue with 2.5.2 on Windows 7 64 bit. I deleted my entire profile and I still am unable to keep flickr logged in.
flickr: $Id: flickr.xml 22652 2009-07-03 19:06:53Z campbell $
I am not seeing any error messages, it just logs out.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Sophie, I have worked through all those steps and it seems to have worked for me. If it stops working I'll try the web detective thing and get back to you. Thanks for your help.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Update: the fix stopped working when I restarted Flock. What happens is that I just don't see any Flickr updates in the Friend Activity section of My World. If I log in to Flickr (via Yahoo) then the friend activity updates may appear after half an hour or so or may not. I get no error messages. I have pasted in the web detective comment below.
I know I deleted all my cookies because my Favourite Sites history has gone.
I notice that Yahoo never offers me the option to stay logged in and as it seems possible that this is relevant I have also pasted in what web detective says about Yahoo Mail.

@Eileen,
Thank you for the Flickr and Yahoo Mail information gotten from the Web Detective page...
1) The Flickr Friend Activity refresh rate has always been one hour, so what you're currently seeing is the expected behavior. If you'd like to see your Flickr friends activities sooner, simply close your People sidebar, wait for a second or two, re-open the sidebar, and look for the throbber (like in this screenshot:
).
Once the throbber finishes spinning, your People sidebar and MyWorld should be updated. If it's not the case, I'd suggest that you start a new thread specific to it, to avoid confusion.
2) When you say "Yahoo never offers me the option to stay logged in":
a) if you login at flickr.com, there's a "Keep me signed in" option.
b) if you were actually referring to the account configuration in Flock, simply open the Accounts and Services sidebar (it's the key icon on he Flock Toolbar, or select View > Sidebar > Accounts and Services from the menus, or press CTRL+SHIFT+A). Look for your Flickr account and look at the link under your username:
- if it says "Remember Account", clicking on it will configure the account
- if it says "Forget Account", it means that your account has already been configured
Hope that clarifies it a bit,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Sophie,
I think I haven't been precise enough in my description of the problem. I'll have one more go, and if you think it's not appropriate to this thread I am happy to start others.
Firstly, this isn't what's normally expected - for the first year that I used Flock it behaved differently. It started doing this just when other people reported problems and has never improved despite my downloading updates regularly and doing all the other things we've been advised to do.
To start at this beginning, here is what happens:
I open Flock.
There are no Flickr updates at all in the 'My World' section. None from yesterday or the last time I logged in. None at all. Just Facebook ones.
So I click on my Flickr account (saved in my favourites toolbar) to log in.
I get a message inviting me to sign up or sign in.
I click 'sign in'.
I get a message from Yahoo asking me for my Yahoo log in details.
I give them my details.
I am logged into Flickr.
No friend activity appears in My World.
I click on the people toolbar and on the Flickr logo in that toolbar.
It does that update thing you mentioned.
The updates do not appeal in my friend activity sidebar.
I don't log out of Flickr.
I may browse Flickr and/or upload files. Sometimes I find I get logged out in the middle of posting, which is particularly annoying. But mostly it lets me stay logged in (I have configured my Yahoo account to keep me logged in for two weeks. It works on all my other browsers but not on Flock. In the accounts and services toolbar it offers me the option to forget my Flickr account, so I think it is set up right.)
If I look back at the friend activity sidebar after having been logged in for some time it may show some Flickr friend activity. Mostly it doesn't show any Flickr activity at all - just Facebook. I know there has been activity since I last logged in, and even while I have been logged in. Clicking on the people sidebar will refresh the sidebar but not the friend activity thing.
If I close Flock, next time I open it I will not be logged into Flickr, and on the rare occasions when there was some Flickr friend activity showing when I closed the browser it will have disappeared when I next open it so I only see Facebook updates - and we go back to step 1 again.
I’m frustrated
-
@Eileen,
Could your Facebook friends activities be more recent than your Flickr friends' activities? My World only shows the most recent 25 activities. If your Facebook friends are more active than your Flickr friends, that could explain it.
If not, I think it'd be best that you start a new thread, since it'd seem to be more of a Friend Activities issues.
With your new thread, could you please include the results of the following:
1) logout of all services that you may have configured, except for Flickr.
2) ask a Flickr friend to perform any new Flickr activity (like uploading a picture, or sending you a Flickr message)
3) close and re-open your People sidebar. Wait for the throbber to spin.
4) once the throbber stops spinning, open the MyWorld tab. If you already had one opened, please refresh the page.
5) verify your Flickr friend's recent activity from step 2.
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Sophie,
thanks for getting back to me. In response to your first question: no. My Flickr friends are MUCH more active than my Facebook ones. I'm a very keen photographer.
I'll try your suggestion though don't really see the point.
But what about the problem of having to log in every time I open the browser and not being able to stay logged in unless I keep Flickr open (and sometimes not even then)? I suspect that is the root of the problem myself and can assure you that this only happens on Flock - IE and Firefox don't ask me to log in to Flickr every time I open the application.
Eileen -
@Eileen,
Regarding the issue about having to log in everytime, this is a known issue documented in our Flock 2.5.2 release notes. We can assure you that it is on our list of high priority bugs to fix. If you'd like to follow the progress of the bug report, here's the link: https://bugzilla.flock.com/show_bug.c...
As for your Flickr friends activities, the reason why I asked to try without your Facebook friends' activities, is to narrow down the cause. Should you still have any issue, I'd ask you to open a new thread instead, as this one is getting too long and confusing.
Thanks for your patience, and for taking the time to explain your issues.
Sophie
