Flock 2.5 versus Firefox 3.5
Firefox 3.5 was just released. Does this mean Flock 2.5 will need to be updated again?

Hey folks,
We're keeping an eye on Firefox 3.5 in the field...we don't want to bring you anything unstable, and there are some reports of migration issues. It's a lot of work to integrate a new version, so we want to make sure the code is truly ready when we dive into it.
@Cristiano: We do have technology called Web Detective built into Flock which allows us to fix issues like the Facebook breakage just like an extension update...in fact, even more invisibly. Depending on the level of breakage, we usually get these fixes out within 24 hours.
We welcome any development on the Flock platform...we're built off of Firefox so that's a great place to start, and you're more than welcome to chat with our developers on our IRC channel: irc.flock.com, #flock-dev

Inappropriate?Of course yes,
I am using it right now, because the memory usage is 100% better
Look, i use more than 100 extensions here, and it still runs smooth and doesn ́t get a lot of CPU %. I Believe Mozilla did the right thing in this version about memory and cpu usage, since something i hated in other versions from 3.0 to now is that it was a memory and cpu eater and now its perfect.
About Flock:
Flock 2.5 is very good, but still got some flaws in my opnion:
Still does not support some social services, like orkut (the number one social network here in Brazil (i don ́t use orkut a lot but a lot of friends and relatives use it)
The support for other services is not well designed for one point, if the service it self changes some scripts and functions, flock is not gonna work property with that service...
If facebook changes codes, the facebook part in the "people" will stop working for example
I believe that this part should use some kind of module stuff (something like an extension that changes the behavior of the browser itself) , so if somethink like that changes, flock developers only update the module, just like an extension update...
and making that open for other developers would boost the acceptance of flock to people that uses services that are not supported right now, since people would start developing those modules for other services... and by open modules i mean that it would open doors to almost infinite possibilities, making the browser integrate with tons of internet services and sites. -

Inappropriate?Wow glad to hear that flock will be updated to be in line with firefox 3.5. I find that flock is becoming my number one browser these days. It still needs extensions like xmarks (i know flock is a social networking browser but i refuse to use delicious) and stumble upon, no script etc.
Christiano i refuse to belive you have over 100 add ons installed on firefox (though i don't mind being proved wrong ;) )

Inappropriate?Amen to the above. Just discovered Flock 2.51 and was enjoying it, until noticing the aformentioned performance issues and FF 3.5, which I've also been using and think is amaaaazing. FF 3.5 is not at all clunky though I have a big pile of extensions. Not getting much cross-fire from all those apps, and otherwise very impressed with 3.5's stability, its handling of crashes, etc.
What it doesn't have is the whole social networking infrastructure foregrounded like Flock does.
So, I look forward to the integration with 3.5, which I think Flock (because of the nature of news feeds, online video, and social networking) will benefit from enormously.

Inappropriate?I do not understand the logic that rules Firefox 3.5.x user interface
Now you need three mouse clicks to clear private data instead of the two needed by the older versions.
And what really bother me is the missing last tab close button, I had to edit a userChrome.css file (after spending a lot of time searching the web looking for information about this issue) to restore the previous setting.
I hope the people at Flock have an updated version of the Dublin Theme at the time a Flock browser based on Firefox 3.5.x is released, the current v.2.1 will not work.
