FLock is completely not working
My flock isn't working at all. I saw the post in Flickr Help Forum topic a day or so ago...about Flock sidebar issues where a Flock person(Evan?) said the fixes were in, go download, etc. I did that, replaced my old app. Now when I open Flock...it does nothing. It's just a bare minimum toolbar, it won't go to pages, no toolbar items will open...nothing. It's like some weird skeleton non-working version of Flock. It's the 2.5.2 or whatever it's called. Any advice?

Inappropriate?Hey folks,
Very sorry to hear about the issues, let's see what we can do to help you out!
@Carie: Do you have any extensions installed? Specifically Tabs Mix Plus? Try disabling them and restarting Flock - is the issue gone?
@gregj777: What version of Flock are you running? Do you have any extensions installed?

Inappropriate?Hi Evan. I am running the new one, 2.5.2. There are no extensions. Everything else is working/loading ok, just Flickr is not. And that's what I use the most! Thanks for your help. :-)
I’m confident

Hey gregj777,
Thanks for the info. Can you try this?
1. Log out of Flickr
2. Open the Accounts&Services sidebar
3. "Forget" your Flickr account(s)
4. Go to Tools>Options (Windows), Flock>Preferences (Mac) or File>Preferences (Linux).
5. Go to the Privacy tab
6. Click "Show Cookies"
7. Delete any Flickr cookies and (for good measure) any Yahoo! cookies
8. Restart your computer
Does that solve it? Crossing my fingers!

Inappropriate?I just checked this board again so I didn't get to try your suggestion above because it started working again around midnight. I tried to forget the account and it would not let me forget it but I did log out of Yahoo all the way and then clicked log in from the sidebar, and when I did it populated my contacts and ever so slowly loaded the Flickr media in the media bar. It's slower than normal so something must still be up but it is working. Thanks for what you do because it would be horrible to surf now without Flock!
I’m happy

Inappropriate?@Alma is your computer running windows XP? if so can you go to the "Control Panel", switch to "Classic view" and then double click "Network Connections"
1) is your computer connected to the internet by a wire? if not go to 2), if so right click the "Local area Connection", click "disable" and wait for it to disable, then right click "Local area Connection" again and select "enable", then check your browser.
2) is your computer connected to the internet by wireless? if so right click the "Wireless network Connection", click "disable" and wait for it to disable, then right click "Wireless network Connection" again and select "enable", then check your browser. -
Inappropriate?it didnt work, it still says i dont have a connection with flock or opera or firefox. :|
I’m still sad, just more sad.

Inappropriate?can you go to the "Control Panel", switch to "Classic view" and then double click "Network Connections"
now right click on whichever connection you are using, click "Status"
write down everything it says in that window and paste it here (or print screen and put it here, whichever is easier for you) -
Inappropriate?well you have received quite a bit of data and your connection appears to be functioning properly, so all that is left is the troubleshooting options...
1) your signal strength is quite low, in cases like this I try moving the computer closer to the wireless sender
2) if you can't or it doesn't help I like to turn off all other connections and connect to the sender by wire, this way you can check whether it is the pc or the sender
3) I have checked connections like this using an xbox 360, if you have one that is an option
4) the only things left would be to check to see if you have a roaming IP address (as it is wireless it probably is) and make it a fixed IP address instead...
if you want further guidance on steps 3 or 4 post again here, I'm watching the topic -
Inappropriate?the difficulty with 4 is knowing the range of accepted addresses, the router has a list that will work, usually (192.168.2.number) or (192.168.1.number), this means 2 parts, if the first fails you'll need to do some more complex stuff (and won't be able to do part 2), but I'll guide you through the ideal one first...
PART 1
so, you need to find the ones your router uses, type these one by one into the address bar until you get a response (asking for a username and password)
192.168.0.0
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.2
192.168.1.0
192.168.1.1
192.168.1.2
192.168.2.0
192.168.2.1
192.168.2.2
this is what I call your R-Address, write it down
PART 2
take your R-Address, cut off the last number, and replace it with the number of computers that are ever connected to the router +2 (eg: R-Address 192.168.1.1, 3PCs N-Address 192.168.1.5)
go to the "Control Panel", switch to "Classic view" and then double click "Network Connections"
right click on the connection you use and select "Properties", this should pop up a window with a list of check boxes in the middle, left click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and press the "Properties" button
that should pop up another window, which should have the options "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Use the following IP address", select the second one and type in your N-Address, the subnet mask ( 255.255.255.0) and the default gateway (eg: R-Address 192.168.1.1, default gateway 192.168.1.0 eg2: R-Address 192.168.2.2, default gateway 192.168.2.0)
it will probably also tell you to input the DNS server addresses, I use (85.255.116.120) and
(85.255.112.114 )
“OK” all the way out, restart your computer, let it start all the way up, go to the "Control Panel", switch to "Classic view" and then double click "Network Connections", right click on the connection you use and select "Properties", if it is connected then it worked, if not then go ino the connection and switch back to obtaining them both automatically
