Hey folks,
As Randy mentioned, Facebook made a change to their code which broke our integration. We have whipped up a fix which should show up in the next 24 hours, but if you'd like to get it now you can do the following:
1. Mac: Go to Edit>Preferences
Windows: Go to Tools>Options
2. Click the Advanced icon
3. Click the Update tab
4. Choose "Force Service Updates"
If the issue remains after doing this, please let us know.

Inappropriate?Happened to me in 2.0.2 after logging out from FB and then logging in once more. Upgrading to 2.0.3 didn't make any difference. I can log in to FB alright, but the sidebar does not load the content anymore (as if I weren't logged). I wonder if it's just a temporal glitch.
-
Inappropriate?I had it working for a while then I started to be prompted to log out and log back into Facebook to enable flock's "advanced" features. I couldn't get that to work so I had flock forget my Facebook account. Since then I can't get flock to add Facebook to my People sidebar. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice now. Tried forcing a service update twice as well. It's one of the main reasons I have been using Flock over any other browser so I hope it gets fixed soon.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi folks... Sorry for the frustration. Facebook made some changes today that broke Flock's ability to detect account IDs. These changes are slowly propagating across their servers and didn't come to our attention until this afternoon. We have a fix that is going through testing right now and will hopefully get pushed out to users as a service update tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.
We'll let you know in this thread when it is ready. -
Thanks Randy -
Thanks for the fast action! I'll look forward to the update! -
Inappropriate?same prob im having but hope its fixed soon thanks for keeping us updated
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Still facing the problem on 2.0.3 after following the steps above. I've given some time to pass to make sure the server I'm accessing has the right stuff.... still nothing.
-
Inappropriate?300Jazz,
If you followed Evan's steps above to force service updates, and your Facebook friends still don't show up in the People sidebar, you may need to restart Flock to make the updates "take"... If you're still having troubles, let us know; it may be another issue.

I already tried the manual update several times last night. Gave it one more try today with no success. Using Flock 2.0.3. Still having the same issue so I'm looking forward to the fix being pushed out. -
Second that. I told Flock to "Forget Account" for my Facebook account to try and solve the problem... Even after a service update I get no joy, Flock refuses to remember my login and incorporate into the sidebar. -
So you're still seeing the problem after doing the manual update as Evan suggested and restarting Flock?
Try this: open a new tab in Flock and enter about:webdetective in the URL bar. You should get a list of services with information (version, timestamp) about each service's support file. The entry for Facebook should look something like this:
facebook: $Id: facebook.xml 21595 2009-01-22 05:18:27Z chris $
If you do not have version 21595, then the update hasn't taken effect. You should try Evan's steps again, restart Flock, and check about:webdetective again.
If your Facebook service is up-to-date then there is something else going on. -
Ah. Missed the part about restarting Flock. It's working now. I'm so relieved. Flock is to web 2.0 as computers are to internets... KEY!
Thanks so much :) -
Looks like there is something else going on. My facebook entry reads
facebook: $Id: facebook.xml 21595 2009-01-22 05:18:27Z chris $
so Houston we have a new problem. -
Ok after many restarts and multiple times logging out then logging in it appears to be working properly right now. I'm still uneasy as I can't figure out what action finally did the trick (I didn't get to sacrificing a rubber chicken but was getting close) but as it's working I guess the issue is resolved... -
Glad it's working now. Please keep us updated if it stops working for you again. I don't want to even think this (!) but it's possible that Facebook is rolling out more changes and you're one of the lucky users who is experiencing them first... :) -
I won't be shy about letting you know if things change :-) Do I need to start a "Facebook Why Do You Hate Flock?" group on Facebook or do you think they might start working with you guys? -
Inappropriate?Bingo - that did it. Thanks very much.
-
Inappropriate? For the record, my Flock is now working as expected after forcing the service update.
Running Flock 2.03 on Windows 7 Beta 1 x64
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I have tried the "Forced Service Updates" but all that happens is "Starting service update" and sticks on this.
I then restart Flock and check "about:webdetective" and I am still on the:
"facebook: $Id: facebook.xml 20529 2008-10-06 23:57:32Z justin $
version, and not the updated one (21595).
I have restarted Flock many times but to no avail.
Flock 2.0.3 - Macbook - Intel Core 2 Duo - OSX 10.5.6
The previous version worked like a dream, its only after the latest version upgrade I have had this problem.
Hopefully somebody is out there with an answer????
Cheers
Dean

Inappropriate?Hello Dean,
Would you please open the Console Error at Tools -> Error Console? Then do a Forced services updates and copy and paste any error that you might see at this forum, please.
Are you using any 2.0.3 L10n builds?
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?I too am having this problem. my People Side bar is blank. I have the Get Started gray area and then nothing underneath - since I updated to 2.0.3 a few days ago. I tried the force service update and it just says starting service update up not doing anything else.. I am running a Mac Power PC G5 with version 10.5.6 operating system. ANY SUGGESTIONS, I MISS my sidebar!!
Thanks,
truckee_ima
I’m sad!!

Inappropriate?Randy, I tried the about:webdetective in my browser window and I don't get flock showing at all, I get the following:
# aolmail: $Id: aolmail.xml 21614 2009-01-29 19:36:30Z justin $
# flockoobe: $Id: flockoobe.xml 21363 2008-12-10 00:50:31Z chris $
# tinypic: $Id: tinypic.xml 20885 2008-11-05 02:06:26Z justin $
# youtube: $Id: youtube.xml 21384 2008-12-11 23:24:10Z justin $

Inappropriate?HI There
What I did in the end was to download the app from the flock website again and install it over the top of the current one.
All the settinga stay the same but the facebook side bar works again....
Give that a try, fingers crossed....
I’m Good Luck

Inappropriate?I tried that too, it didn't work. Finally found the solution here:
