Incoming e-mail highlight notification inconsistent?
Good morning,
I want to ask why is it that (sometimes) the e-mail icon seems to indicate that there is a new message, when the hover-over indeed shows that it only "successfully" checked for no e-mail?! The orange highlighting distracts and confuses, if it doesn't consistently signals one certain state! Indeed I also expect from flock to regularly check my webmail (GMail), so I'd need no indication for that. Also, from a productivity standpoint, this would be even better, yet one can't schedule checking e-mails e.g. in hour cycles or at a certain time of day only.
You can of course change the topic type to an idea, if that would better fit your process...
Thanks for listening.
Kind regards.

Inappropriate?Hello Philipp,
Thank you for the report. Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the tooltip of ""successfully" checked for no e-mail".
Would you send me a screenshot of the tooltip that you hover the webmail icon, please?
Regarding the frequency of checking emails, you can modify it by pressing the webmail icon and choose "Webmail Settings...".

Thus, you can change the value at "Check accounts for new mail every [N] minutes" to 60 if you would prefer it to check every hour.
I hope I have answered your questions and thank you so much for your assistance.

Inappropriate?There we goo:

The thing is, I don't know how that should help you, except for I proved it, duh! :P
But what I suspect is, that it shows that, when e-mails came in, but were put into a "folder", meaning got labeled and archived via a filter rule!
I say that, because I organize my GMail by filters especially via OtherInbox.
I think that is the hint you should go after! :)
I’m confident

Inappropriate? An interesting problem... perhaps it is tied to other problems Flock has with this button and Gmail...
I’m undecided
-
Which other problems has flock with GMail? -
Inappropriate?Hello All,
Since an OtherInbox application is used to filter out the gmail traffic, is this possible not to use this application, then connect to gmail using Flock? Please let me know whether webmail notification working correctly.
Thanks,
Patricia -
Yes this is possible and then it seems to work (better).
Yet I won't give my word for it that it is only OtherInbox' fault.
What do you assume from the developers side? -
Inappropriate?Hello Philipp,
I have tried again the Flock webmail icon + Gmail logged in + OtherInbox logged in. The webmail icon notification still works properly for me.

I would like to know whether your OtherInbox account is a pro account or not since I can only get a basic/free account?
Also, would you start Flock at safe mode
to see whether the webmail notification works properly or not, please?
Thanks,
Patricia -
Inappropriate?Hi Patricia,
I'm not able to reconstruct/test that, as I cancelled my account!
I had at first also a basic account and then a pro account.
And also the notification works of course 80% of the time properly, but it happened/happens. As I also use filters myself (still), the only thing I'd suppose could be the reason would be their special filter system. At least I find no visible filter (left) in my filter properties...did you try to contact them about it?
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Hello Philipp,
Thus, is your new webmail notification working properly now and which version of Flock are you using? Since I can't reproduce the webmail bugs with OtherInbox logged in, I haven't contact them at all. However, if you would like to contact them, you can write to http://getsatisfaction.com/otherinbox
Thanks,
Patricia -
Hi, yes, I use v.2.5.2 still (how not? ;)) and it works fine as said. Could be maybe also a thing with the check rhythm, I prolonged it. -
The reason I ask is since Flock 2.5.2 has fixed several webmail notification bugs, I would just like to confirm you are using Flock 2.5.2. As webmail notification is working now, I think we are all set here. -
If you think so...I'll report some more bugs here in a second. :P -
Inappropriate?Hi,
ok as I was on it anyway, it just got present in my mind, how buggy the whole story actually is. At least that is what I perceive. Here is a screenshot.
Several problems:
1). Somehow, Yahoo! Mail (or any mail account) sets itself as primary web account, although I never had done/changed or authorized that and wouldn't! I don't use Yahoo! Mail anymore, it is just there to monitor the incoming e-mails I might've not changed to GoogleMail.
2). The shown unread message(s) / message count is not really in sync with the actual point, even though I have just checked them (the e-mails) or in the case where I go on the site, shouldn't flock notice that? So two variants:
2.1.) I'm on it and it shows mails I've already read and there are zero mails in the Inbox - as to be seen in the screenshot.
2.2.) I'm going to GoogleMail via the flock button and although I have unread e-mails in GMail, it (still) showed totally different unread e-mails in the preview!
Conclusion: flock should check the e-mails when I access the drop-down or at least the specific e-mail account with my mouse! I know that might be difficult to realize, but this way, even if I set the message check at every 60 seconds, it seems flock doesn't really get it that I read the other e-mails. Maybe I'm expecting too much of an API-webapp?

Inappropriate?Nooo, the (first) problem is NOT solved! Wrong notifications are still showing up!
Dude.
Please acknowledge this and let's follow-up on it by going into detail!
I’m frustrated
