Yes I agree strongly. We have all these services but no integrated way of updating our status. I use Ping.FM exclusively to update all my statuses from my browser as well as my mobile device during the day. Thing is that Ping.FM is good at what they do and allow for many services as well as multiple means of updating. So they cater for other services as well as updates from mobile devices (latter which Flock will not be able to cater for within the browser).
Flock may want to introduce the service as an option between pushing the update to registered accounts on Flock, and offering the option to just push the updates straight to Ping.FM and let Ping.FM do the distribution.

I'm curious: are you specifically looking for ping.fm integration, or would the ability to post a single status to multiple services with Flock be sufficient?

Inappropriate?the ability to post a single status to multiple services would be sufficient. the cool thing about ping.fm integration would be the ability to take advantage of the larger number of services that ping.fm currently supports. but, at the end of the day what i would really like to be able to do is post to facebook, twitter, and britekite simultaneously.

Inappropriate?Ping.fm also allows some other features that make it a very powerful back-end, like location posting and a set of already developed commands and shorthand for micro-blogging, status update, blog posting, and link posting (via delicious). I agree that since they are constantly adding services to their back-end, that it would add more functionality than Flock is prepared to commit to. For example, they now offer AIM and GTalk status integration as well.
