Twitter bugs - messages, updates, dead links
I've been dealing with several Twitter issues since I installed Flock.
1.) It tells me I have 9+ new messages every time I open it in the sidebar. They're the same direct messages I've had every time. I've read them.
2.) There are serious lags with updates. Currently, someone who has updated several times in the last hour is reported as having updated 11 hours ago.
3.) When I use the Actions drop-down menu to investigate people's profiles I get a "this page doesn't exist" message from Twitter.
For the record, I'm running Mac OS X. I've gone through "preferences" and done the "force update" fix and this hasn't resolved it.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hi there. Thanks for the note.
Most of what you are experiencing is expected, and here's why:
-- Twitter has no concept of read or unread messages. All the service can tell us is if messages exist or not. The number of messages you have in your inbox is the number Flock reports. All you can do on twitter is trash messages, so all Flock can do is count the number you haven't trashed.
-- Twitters API (one of the two they have, the 'JSON' API) that provides data to Flock has some serious latency issues, and has had this problem for over a week. They are aware of the problem but haven't been able to fix it yet. Their note on it is here:

-- Your last note on the link to profiles in the Actions menu is a bug that was recently introduced. You can click any friend's picture in the sidebar to view their profile -- we will push out a fix to the Actions menu soon, but for now the click on the profile picture will do the trick.
Hopefully Twitter fixes their JSON API soon and gets us back to fresh data. I will drop a note on this thread when I learn anything new. In the meantime you are wise to check the twitter.com pages to see the latest updates or to confirm that your tweet entered into the sidebar worked.
Usually the folks at Twitter are quite fast at fixing bugs in their API. This one has taken longer than usual, so hopefully this means the fix is coming very soon.
Clayton
I’m still waiting for the API fix
