Why does Flock refuse to save any Favourites?
Flock will not let me save any 'favourites'. It imported my previous bookmarks just fine, however it will not let me save anything else. Occasionally it will say it has saved one page, but then within minutes it will have disappeared as if it was never saved. Is this a problem that can be easily solved? Please someone help...

Inappropriate?Hello Claire,
Could you please explain what you mean by "it will not let me save anything else" and "it will have disappeared"?
Are you trying to save a page locally or online (Del.icio.us)?
If the bookmark is properly saved, does it remain in the location where you bookmarked it? Will the Star icon remain orange when you're viewing that page?
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Basically, i downloaded Flock today and imported all of my bookmarks from Fire Fox. This went well and everything imported just fine. I then added a folder to my favourites bar and stored some new favourites in there. They all saved fine so i was pleased. I then left my computer for a few hours and when i returned, all of my new bookmarked favourites (excluding the ones imported from Fire Fox) had disappeared as if they had been deleted. I thought this was a little strange so i tried to re-add them again, but they won't appear as saved. The star next to the address bar goes orange if i visit a supposed favourite page, but there is no way i can just click a button to view it as with my other favourites as the link or button (I'm not sure of the technical term) is not appearing anywhere. This is very irritating because i don't know all the sites off by heart so i have had to save the web addresses that should be saved as favourites, into a word file and then copy and paste them when i need them.
I have tried a couple of different ways in which to save the pages as favourites, but none of the routes i take work.
I'm afraid i don't know what "Del.icio.us" is or what the term 'locally saved' means. All I'm trying to do is click the star by the address bar and save the links as per the tutorial explained...
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Claire,
When trying to bookmark a page by clicking on the star icon, did you specify which location you'd like to save it at? The instructions are here:
http://flock.com/user-guide/2.0/advfa...
As for your current bookmarks that have disappeared, have you checked if they're under the "Unsorted Favorites"? If you open your Favorites sidebar, choose "Local Favorites", then check if they're not under "Unsorted Favorites" .
We hope you'll find them back,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Yeah i have done all of that and search everywhere they could have possibly been saved too. I just don't understand why the star goes orange but there is no bookmarked link or why it won't let me save new bookmarks...
I’m confused

Inappropriate?Claire,
1. Visit a bookmark page for which the Star turns orange.
2. Click on the Star icon twice
3. This should bring a popup link this:

4. Which location was it bookmarked at? You can tell by looking at the "Folder" field.
5. If it's unclear, can you made a screenshot of it for us ?
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Yeah i know where they are supposedly bookmarked too however they aren't there. For instance, here is the "edit favourite" box from a supposedly bookmarked page:

Now you see that it appears to be bookmarked in the "TV & Film" folder in the bookmarks bar, however:

As you can see in this picture, the page is clearly not in the folder it said it should be. There should be a link in the "TV & Film" folder named "The Big Bang Theory" to represent that page but obviously, there is no such link available...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Claire,
Thanks for the screenshots.
Let's try this :
1. Visit the same bookmark as in your screenshot
2. Click twice on the Star icon to bring the "Edit Favourite" box like you did in your first screenshot
3. Change the location to another folder (for ex, "testing" in the favorite toolbar")
==> Will it then appear in the new location?
Also, I'm assuming you're using Flock 2.0.3 (from our website) on a Mac?
Thanks,
Sophie -
Inappropriate?Unfortunately i have already tried that theory and it didn't work with any of my missing bookmarks. And yes your assumptions are correct :)

Inappropriate?Claire,
This is very strange. Let me look into this and will get back to you.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience!

Inappropriate?Thank you :)

Inappropriate?Would you post a screen shot of your favorite Library with the favorites toolbar folder expanded, please? If there is any privacy issue, you can send the screenshot to me at patricia at flock dot com.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?I can't find an option to view a favourites library? Could you please explain how i can find this?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Claire,
A favourite library is just another word for the favourite sidebar. Just open the sidebar, open your Favourites Toolbar folder, and take the screenshot.
Also, earlier you said you didn't understand Delicious or "locally saved". Delicious is an online favourite-hosting site. Basically what it does is, you add your favourite webpages onto it, and then can access them from any computer. It's an online version of the Favourite sidebar.
"Locally saved" means saved on your system, as opposed to being saved on Delicious or some other online favourite website. Local refers to your computer.
Hope that clarifies things!

Inappropriate?Claire,
In your screenshots, was the folder "TV & Film" folder created in Firefox before you installed Flock, or was it created after you ran Flock?
If you don't mind, would you be willing to send us your profile, so that our developer could take a look at it? It's all working fine on our side, so there might be an issue with your profile.
To do so, please:
- optional step: log off or forget your accounts in the Accounts and Services sidebar. This will assure your privacy
- go to (your home folder)>Library>Application Support>Flock
- make a copy of the folder named "Flock"
- zip it
- go to sendit.com
- send the profile to performance@flock.com
Many thanks!

Claire,
Thank you for the last screenshot!
As for the URL, my apologies! It's http://www.yousendit.com/
Thank you !

Inappropriate?Hello Claire,
Thank you for sending us your profile. I looked at it and tracked down the problem to the corruption of places.sqlite in your profile folder.
This is what you can do:
- export your bookmarks to a html file (in Flock choose Favorites-Organize Favorites)
- delete that places.sqlite file as well as the bookmarkbackups folder.
- Restart Flock and import your bookmarks from the html file you created
Bruno
PS: Flock 2.1 will solve this corruption problem.
