The dock icon badge is working well with Gmail, but when I convert to a MenuExtra there's no visible notification of unread emails. Is it possible to set the MenuExtra icon from within a userscript?
The unread dock badge for gmail hasn’t worked for me since 0.9.2.1 (I think). Google Reader works great. I was excited to see that 0.9.2.3 has a dock badge fix, but I still don’t have the dock badge for gmail. Any ideas?
Is it possible to add menu-bar badges too? I'm a fan of icons in the menu bar as well as numbered badges on the dock. It might be possible to do this already and I'm not seeing it, but could you point me to how, or is it possible to do?
I'd love to see support for different badge colors/types - I'm currently using a custom userscript with Harvest (timetracking) to show my current hours, and I'd like to be able to use different colors to indicate if the timer is running.
I'd really like to see an option that would allow SSBs to display a Growl notification when the badge count changes.
Admittedly, I don't know how many sites badge icons can be enabled for, but hey, at least this would have a benefit for me. I'm currently using a Gmail userscript which parses the window title for the count of new messages. This works when I leave the SSB pointed at the inbox, but often I leave it after viewing my last new email, and Gmail doesn't append the new message count to the title when this occurs. It'd also save people from having to implement userscripts for sites that already support badge icons.
I was wondering if when there are no unread items in bloglines there should be a badge with a zero still there... It seems contrary to apps like mail and NNW...
Also it would be good if the badge updated when the window was closed.
