Default Preferences for new SSBs
A feature I would love to see in Fluid is the ability to set your own default preferences for newly created SSBs.
I tend to use the same preferences for most of my SSBs and it gets old having to go in and change all the settings every single time I make a new one. If there was a place in the main Fluid app to set what preferences you'd like set to what, on the creation of a new SSB, I think it would help speed everyone's workflow up a bit.
For instance, I always set "Block Popup Windows" and "only Accept Cookies from sites I navigate too," under the Security Preferences.... always. So why should I have to keep on setting, and keep on setting them every time I make a new one, I know that I want all of them to be that way (in fact, I'm kinda curious why these aren't set as a factory default in Fluid anyways, as most people I know always use them... anyways, back to the topic at hand).
So, what do you think? Did all that make sense? Would it be simple enough to give the user control over default preferences? =)

Inappropriate?A more advanced SSB Admin app is a possibility in the future, but will not appear anytime soon... sorry no time at the moment...

Inappropriate? How about simply adding the SSB's prefs window in Fluid, Todd? Then whatever settings the user chooses in Fluid would be used as defaults when creating a new SSB's. Wouldn't it be rather easy to implement?

Inappropriate?Here's a simple solution:
Add a Preferences window to Fluid... in this preferences window would be all the same options you have in an SSB, when you change the preferences in here it would save a normal preference file which would be a template to be used on the creation of a new SSB.
To implement these user preferences, all you need to do is copy the .plist file to ~/Library/Preferences/ and name it for the SSB it's associated with (e.g. -- com.fluidapp.FluidInstance.Facebook.plist)
Essentially, you only ever wind up dealing with .plist files... there's no need to dig into anything else (not that I can see anyhow). Since it's all preference based you only need to deal with the preference files, which exist anyways (and are created anyways). You're pulling a .plist template from somewhere to create these files already, it can't be that hard to pull them from a slightly different location =P
@Todd: I know implementing new features takes a lot of work, even if they are fairly simple you have to test and debug, test and debug. So don't break your back over anything as simple as this unless you think it's important. I love your app and make suggestions on how it can be improved because I want it to be even awesomer (people are like that... when they love something they criticize it =P ) It's awesome you're giving a cool app like this away for free. Kudos! Keep up the good work!! =) -
Inappropriate? It's exactly what I suggested, but I didn't find necessary to tell Todd how to do it. :D
And I totally agree with your last paragraph! Many thanks for Fluid, Todd! It's an awesome application and I can't imagine living without it, now.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?hi guys, yeah, this is pretty much what i had in mind too... reusing the existing UI... whether it will be as easy as inforshrew thinks it will be, i'm not so sure ;0]
eventually this will come, but there's a few more pressing features at the top of the stack at the moment.
thx guys, glad you like fluid!!!!

Inappropriate?LOL... sorry, didn't mean to sound insulting by telling you how to implement it. You definitely know waaaaay more about app programming than me; I have not yet stepped into the realm of Cocoa (though I keep meaning too); my days are spent on PHP lately (and I'm definitely not overly skilled in that realm either =P ).
Oh, yeah... definitely don't worry about this unless you have spare time and want to figure it out for fun. It doesn't really hurt to not have it, it's just one of those icing-on-the-cake features that would be nice to have.
