Gmail unread badge not appearing
The unread dock badge for gmail hasn’t worked for me since 0.9.2.1 (I think). Google Reader works great. I was excited to see that 0.9.2.3 has a dock badge fix, but I still don’t have the dock badge for gmail. Any ideas?

Inappropriate? Are you using the gmail labs Hide Unread Counts feature? See what happens when you disable it.

jlp - I'm not using that gmail labs feature. -
Inappropriate?Hi tobinibot,
i am aware that the built-in gmail dock badge does not work for everyone. a couple of notes:
- i'll need more info from you to have any hope of debugging the issue on your system. (osX version, safari version, URL you used to create the SSB, URL finally resolved when the SSB home page loads, and also what language you use in Gmail)
- however, I probably wont be able to fix the issue with the current dock badge architecture anyhow. I'm planning some significant changes to this in the next month, so i dont want to spend too much time trying to fix the old stuff. hang tight.
- in the meantime you can turn off 'Fluid attempts to show dock badges' in General prefs and do a google search for (or create your own) a Gmail Fluid userscript. Here's one just created by a Fluid user the other day:

hope that helps

Inappropriate?Sure thing, here's the info.
OS X 10.5.4
Safari Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1)
URL used in creation: http://gmail.com
final URL: https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1
English
Oh yeah, and I have the Google Secure Pro userscript installed to make sure all the google apps use https.
Ok, if it's on your radar, then that's cool. I may try a userscript in the meantime. Thanks for the info.
Tobin
I’m relieved it's a known problem
