Ford should create a iPhone dock connector accessory that lets you unlock your car using your iPhone.

One thing I like about the new Ford Fiesta, is the Key-Free System and Power Starter Button (http://www.ford.co.uk/FordInnovation/...). These two features mean that you no longer need a key to access and start your car, but you still have to carry around a keyfob to lock/unlock the doors and boot.

Wouldn't it be great if you could leave the keyfob at home and use your iPhone instead? What if Ford were to create a iPhone app which had a picture of a keyfob on it, but when your tap on the buttons on the keyfob, it actually unlocks/lock your car remotely, using a small transmitter accessory that plugs into the 30-pin dock connector on the bottom of your iPhone.

See this video from ZipCar for a better idea of how the iPhone app would work (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkzOtE...).

You could even launch this for older Ford cars that have remote central locking for novelty value (i'd buy one!) but those customers would still need to carry around their keys to start the engine.
