Ford Sync - Display Gas Station POI when fuel is low
For cars equipped with Ford Sync, it would be cool if the navigation unit would automatically display gas station points-of-interest (POI) when the fuel level is low.

Inappropriate? The Lincoln MKS does exactly this.

Interesting. How low does the fuel have to get before the POI show up? I get a warning on the dashboard that fuel is low at 50 miles-to-empty (MTE). I let the fuel level go down to 25 MTE, but still didn't get the POI on the navigation unit. -
Inappropriate?Your vehicle probably does not have the next generation navigation system and therefore does not have this feature. Originally, SYNC and navigation systems were separately developed and in most Ford vehicles, they were not tied together or to other systems. However based on feedback and other factors, beginning this year the next generation navigation system linked the POI feature to the low fuel warnings.
I believe this generation navigation is currently available only on the Lincoln MKS and the Ford Flex (because they're both all new in 2009). This next generation of navigation system will be incorporated in most of the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury lineup in the future. -
Inappropriate?sweet :) don't suppose it will be available for retro-fit to an 07 Mustang?
-
Unfortunately, because of all the electronic changes, you probably won't be able to get this retrofitted into your 2007. Ford specific accessories for your Mustang can be found at genuineservice.com. From personal experience, I know it's not available for the 2006. However, it will be available on the 2010 model year Mustang which will go on sale Spring 2009. Thanks.
