This issue is being caused by the AdBlock extension for me. I never had it unstalled until yesterday, now the site won't work. Disabling the extension makes foursquare.com work again.
If you had this problem, please try disabling AdBlock and see if it works after that. Additionally, even if AdBlock doesn't work, if you have any other extensions, try disabling them one at a time, and opening a new tab after disabling them, then trying to reload the page (refreshing didn't work for me), and post what extension, if any, was causing the issue for you.

josh, maybe you should be more specific about what "doesn't work" means. -
Inappropriate?site is continually 'loading' so chrome is working overtime trying to load it and i can't click anywhere due to it loading
-

For me, disabling the Glue extension worked. But the Ad Thwart gave me problems on other sites. -
The AdBlock extension was also my problem. -
Same issue, Ad Thwart running. Tried to added foursqaure as safe site, but it still locks up Chrome completely when it tries to load anything from Amazon Web Services. Works fine with Ad Thwart completely off. -
Inappropriate?I also cannot get FourSquare.com to load in Chrome when the AdBlock extension is running. I know that normally this would be a well-don't-use-AdBlock-then kind of solution. Except that FourSquare did work last week with AdBlock running, and, well, it's AdBlock. AdBlock makes the web suck less (FourSquare.com being the exception, of course).
I'd rather keep AdBlock turned on than use the FourSquare web site. I don't like having to make that choice.

Inappropriate?Anyone happen to have any theories on what exactly might be happening with foursquare.com and AdBlock? We (obviously) don't display any adds. And the HTML we generate is fairly unremarkable. I'd love to get this fixed, but I'm not entirely sure how to proceed. Hrmmmmm. I guess I can ping the AdBlock guys.
-
Inappropriate? Are people sure this is AdBlock? I have no extensions installed in Chrome, so unless AdBlock is an integrated feature that is not the problem.
Harryh, I would ping Google rather than AdBlock... Google tends to be really responsive to these type of things. -
Inappropriate?OK, definitely working on finding a contact at google (I used to work there, so hopefully won't be so hard) to resolve this issue. Thx for all the input from all you chrome users!
-
awesome how responsive you all are -
Inappropriate?Well, it definitely happens for me when AdBlock is enabled, and doesn't when it's disabled. I'm running a nightly from a week or two ago: 4.0.288.0 (35427).
I'll update to the latest OS X nightly in a minute and test it again.
For further information, you might want to run some page comparisons. I just noticed that I clicked a link a 4sq.com link to a venue with AdBlock enabled, and the venue page opened up just fine, however, when I tried to go to the home page, it would not load until I disabled AdBlock and opened a new tab. Also, while I had AdBlocked still enabled, I searched for another venue by name which brought me straight to it's venue page, and that worked fine again, but when I searched for something that was going to bring me to a search results page, it wouldn't load again.
I think if you can find what's missing from the venue page that is on the search and home pages, you could find out what's causing the lock up.
I'm working on a few things here right now, but in a few I'll do some more testing for you guys and see what I can find out. All that I know right now is that a script is going into an endless loop until that tab dies. -
Okay, well I've gotten deeper into it than I've thought, and I want to go watch hockey for now, so I'll get back on this a little later.
What I see so far is that some bug is causing the scripts to constantly reload and run. eBay.com has a similar issue, but it looks like they only run 7 times or so. foursquare.com runs forever it seems.
I'm a Google Chrome user and fan now, but I haven't done much debugging inside of Google Chrome, so I'm still getting the hang of it. I can't tell yet what is causing the bug, but I'll try more later. -

Inappropriate?I _had_ this problem with AdBlock+, specifically with the maps not displaying. Even doing "Disable subscription for this site" didn't work. On a hunch, I went into the AdBlock+ preferences, unchecked "Block external objects" in the "Subscription" (top) block of prefs, and maps are now appearing.
-
Inappropriate?I'm running Google Chrome 4.1.249.1030 on Windows 7. Four Square is not loading. Four Square is loading fine on IE.
