Foursquare: iPhone application: Easy to reproduce crash on any Place’s detail page
Date: 10/28/09
Version: [v.1.4.1]
Description:
On any place’s detail page, if the user releases the held down “+” button at the same moment they press the “places” button, the user will be returned to the “Nearby Favorites” screen with “Add a Tip here” and “Add to my To-Do List” and “Cancel” overlaid incorrectly on the screen.
At this point the application will crash after the user presses any of these buttons.
Please see attached screenshots.
Note: Hello foursquare, I have found a very easy way to crash your iPhone application. I have gotten it down so that this crash reproduces 100 percent. This isn’t that serious, but I hope by telling you about it you get a better, more holistic understanding of your current iPhone application.
Repro Steps:
1. (after downloading app and creating account, etc.) Launch foursquare iPhone application
2. Select the “Places” tab
3. Select any Nearby location
4. From any location’s page, press (and hold) the “+” button in upper right
5. Press and release the “Places” button a split second after releasing the “+” button
6. With “Add a Tip here” and “Add to my To-Do List” and “Cancel” on the “Nearby Favorites” screen, select any of these options
Result: There is an easy to crash the foursquare iPhone application [v.1.4.1] on any place’s detail screen. If the user releases the held down “+” button a split second after a press and release of the “Places” button, the user will be taken to “Nearby Places” with an incorrect menu option on screen. Any button press from that point will crash the application.
Expected: If you’re still reading this, I expect you to start drinking heavily. No, seriously, I log because I love writing bugs. Plus, I would hope that his provides a better understanding of your iPhone application.
