Player Please Please
I checked in with 3 female friends on 1/28 at Langano Lounge, and I didn't get the Player Please badge, did we do something wrong?

3It's true! The Playa Please badge is BACK in action! It's a bit elusive though--it doesn't retroactively award them, so not everyone in a group will get them--after all, not *everyone* is a playa :) As of tomorrow you will no longer be able to get the badge at work. That seems just wrong to us (and HR!)

A site called 4square badges.com blogged yesterday afternoon that it finally appears to have started working again around noon yesterday. Seems accurate enough, I can find a ton of Player Please unlocked tweets going back to about that time yesterday, but none before that.

I've had this same problem but different venue listed from above

I had the same problem last night. I checked into Melkweg (http://foursquare.com/venue/56337) with three girlfriends (marleenveenhuis, x10tje, -516251) but no badge. Do we have to check-in within an hour or something?
At concert venues, people arrive at different times (sometimes skipping the support act), forget to check in straight away, or -as is common at some venues - have network connection problems. So check-ins can be spread out over more than an hour. (Of course, a check-in at a train station - which is already ridiculous - should be valid for only a few minutes. Otherwise everyone who checks in there will be a "player".)-
I'm pretty sure you have to be 'friends' with the people you're checking in with to get the Player Please badge. So checking into a train station wouldn't really help you unless you either A) Friend tons of random people you don't know or B) Are traveling with friends who are on foursquare.
p.s - I'm not saying A is bad as Foursquare is a way to meet new people -
-
That's true for Player Please and Entourage - they have to be your friends. But you can get Swarm for being one of 50 users to check in. My point was that there is a timing issue (or at least there seems to be). A potential downside of extending the time limit is that all those losers who check into large train stations could be wrongly seen as being part of a swarm.

I read somewhere that Player Please had been disabled in favour of the Swarm badge, which seems kind of unfair - that's a jump from three friends to forty-nine friends! Could Player Please please be reinstated?

Can a foursquare employee verify or deny what meemrs 2.0 read? I checked in yesterday with three members of the opposite sex and still no badge! That is irritating.
-
I'd be really interested to hear the official word, but the story does make sense. There's no evidence in google of Player Please after Dec 20, and I'm pretty sure the first swarm was at CES 2010 (11:57 AM, Jan 8)

I have this same problem - I checked in on Saturday night with 3 members of the opposite sex and got nothin'! Is it really disabled? :(

I have a theory about this, but haven't talked to my friends about it. Check with your friends to make sure their gender is specified in their settings. I think one of my friends either didn't specify a gender or has the wrong value.

I was wrong. Just ran into the issue again. Validated friends' gender. Another thought I had was that maybe the check in order was the issue. Nope. Seen the issue with 6 different check ins.

yeah, this badge is sketch. there are many occasions where i've checked in with members of the opposite sex who i was "friends" with and never got the badge.
-
That's because it's not active in the system anymore; the coding of the badge has been disabled. Whether or not it will ever be reactivated, no one knows at this time.
-
-
if that's the case -- which sounds likely -- why hasn't an employee confirmed that?

I checked in today to a venue with 3 male friends and did not get the badge. I DID however see a tweet go out from @darmano saying he just got it from a check-in.
-
I was interested to see how he got the badge, but Twitter says that page doesn't exist.
-
-
Figured out the problem, its supposed to be @armano.... And Karly is right, he got the badge somehow. I had thought this badge was disabled so I don't know how he did it.

I checked into 2 different places yesterday, each with 3 or more members of the opposite sex, and didn't get the badge. I'm pretty frustrated. What's the trick to this? I thought I met the requirements.
-
DId those three people check-in before you? If you checked-in before them, then you will not get the badge.

-
-
-
-
Yep, they sure did. Is there a time limit that needs to pass after they check in before I can? All 3 of them are on my friend list.

Just making sure: all the people involved have their Gender specified in their Settings, and all the females were already checked in to the venue before the male checked in? It appears from his check-in tweet that there might have only been two of the females already checked in at the time he checked in:

There were definitely 3 already checked-in. I think it more has to do with a timeframe OR the messed up servers. @jupitergeek, @lucywatchthesky and @mariawander were all checked-in but for some reason it did not register @lucywatchthesky. Hmmm???
The 4th female checked in afterward so i understand how that might not count. But this one makes absolutely no sense! -
