Inappropriate?I think that's what tags are for. Now if tags were readable via the iPhone app, that would be keen!

Inappropriate?I think having set categories is better than just relying tags. Each venue would belong to one category: bar, restaurant, club, bank, fast food, etc... This would help for better badges. In addition, I would like to set up my account to only receive pings from certain locations. I don't really care that my friends are going to Target and Starbucks but I do want to know when they are hitting up bars and such.

Inappropriate?I agree. If I'm in a new city it would be great to be able to search for nearby bars, for example, instead of all nearby venues. This will help filter venues for what we want.
