Adding Sync of IE8 on Win7 causes sync problems for Firefox on XP and Mac
I am unable to sync my bookmarks either automatically or manually on Firefox on XP and on my Mac. I think this started once I installed the Xmarks plugin for IE 8 on Windows 7. I never noticed before, but now I have an untitled top level folder (the same level as "Bookmarks Toolbar"). I am unable to give it a name, but I believe that it is the root of my bookmarks menu.
The problems started after syncing my Win7/IE8 installation. The first indication of a problem was a comment about a duplicate URL "" being added (that is probably because of the "Bookmark Duplicate Deleter" plugin for FIrefox. Subsequently, I am getting dialogs from Xmarks saying conflicts in bookmark folders. One example is "Bookmarks Toolbar" vs. Links. The latter comes from IE8, I assume, but I don't know why there is an error in matching the folders.

Inappropriate?Do you get an error message when you attempt to sync in Xmarks for IE, or does the sync succeed but it causes problems (duplications and stuff)?

Inappropriate?Hi Colin... it appears to have succeeded on IE. I turned it off, though. I was able to revert back to an earlier sync history so that I could resync my Firefox installations. I'm afraid to use the IE plugin again. Apparently something that it sync'd caused a problem with FF. I had just installed Win7, however, so the only bookmarks were the preinstalled ones.
I noticed, a blank top-level bookmark branch in Firefox. I just now checked and it is back to being called "Bookmark Menu".
