Beta test foxmarks for IE error 3 - Now cannot sync with Firefox
I have been a foxmarks user for quite some time on my PC's and just recently have been participating in the Beta Test of Firefox for Safari on the Mac.
I have the beta test foxmarks for IE installed on three of my PC's, three XP and one Vista. During initial setup I always set the Sync settings to "Keep Favorites on the server; discard those on computer" selected since I want all of my computers initially synced to the same set of bookmarks on the foxmarks server.
All of my bookmarks are synchronized to the server between the four PC's with Internet Explorer browser and the Safari browser on my Mac.
NOW FOR THE PROBLEM: I can no longer sync bookmarks on any of my Firefox Browsers, thats on the 4 PC's and Mac. Again, I can sync just fine with Safari on the Mac with the existing set of bookmarks stored on the server.
When trying to Sync the Firefox bookmarks on (all computers) I get an error message that says: Unknown error occurred (3) We just encountered an unknown error(number is 3). Please visit our help page.
PLEASE HELP. I normally use Firefox vs IE and now I have no sync capability between my Firefox browsers on any of my computers.

Inappropriate?Jim, in addition to posting to 3 or 4 topics here, you also wrote to our support email, so we'll just follow up at the support email. I suspect the problem will be cured using solutions suggested in this topic, but I'm very curious as to why the problem might affect more than one computer concurrently.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestions Eric. I looked at the topic you suggested and into suggestions sent by another.
What I finally decided to do was go to the myFoxmarks on the server and delete all my bookmarks. Of course prior to doing that I made sure that I had a good set of backup bookmarks I had saved locally earlier in the day. I then deleted all of the bookmarks in my Firefox browser and imported my backup bookmarks. Afterwards I forced foxmarks on that computer to overrite data stored on the foxmarks server. After checking myFoxmarks on the server to make sure that the upload went properly I then did forced downloads to the browsers on my other computers both into firefox and IE. I had used my Mac with Safari and bookmarks as the benchmark computer since never had any problems with the Mac/Safari configuration.
So I am happy to report that all 5 of my Firefox browsers which were effected are updated with the set of bookmarks on the Foxmarks Server and all sync properly as does the Mac/Safari continue with no problem. IE syncs properly of all PC's (4).
I was also curious why the problem affected all of my Firefox Browsers concurrently on 5 different computers (not the Mac/Safari). This sync problem started immediately after installing and syncing IE. My theory is that something must have been corrupted on the server bookmark set after an IE sync. Since deleting all the server files (common to all computers) and uploading a fresh set the problem no longer exists and I can report a Happy Face.
Thank You,
Jim
