Bookmarks will not sync in Safari
I've switched from Firefox (with Foxmarks installed) to Safari 4, and installed Foxmarks for Safari. It says it syncs (in fact, I get a Growl notification every few minutes), but my server bookmarks and local bookmarks do not match. Changes are not showing up.

Inappropriate?I almost the same problem and I'm running Safari 3.2.1.
The bookmarks added under Firefox show up under "Bookmarks" at the top of my mac desktop, but not from within the bookmarks button near the top-left of my Safari window. If I add a bookmark to Safari, it shows up from within the Safari bookmark icon, but not under the "Bookmarks" at the top of the desktop. This makes it unusable for my iPhone.
I’m irritated
-
Inappropriate?Even after I replace server bookmarks with local bookmarks, Foxmarks.com does not match my local Safari bookmarks.

Inappropriate?jeff: Your question is addressed in this topic: http://getsatisfaction.com/foxmarks/t...
Sandy: If your question isn't addressed in the same topic as jeff's, can you provide more details? Is it that a newly-added bookmark won't show up, or that the sort order isn't precisely the same? You've confirmed that both browser are synchronizing against the same Foxmarks username, right? -
Inappropriate?Thanks, Eric.
No, it looks like NONE of my bookmarks is syncing. Here's what I know: I first used Foxmarks with Firefox. I then installed the new Safari 4, imported my bookmarks from Firefox, and successfully ran the Wizard when I installed Foxmarks for Safari. My bookmarks had appeared in the secondary listing "Bookmarks" that Jeff refers to, but I moved everything into the "Bookmarks Menu" and "Bookmarks Bar" headings under "Collections." Somehow, that's not matching up with the Foxmarks file. Foxmarks is synching -- or at least running successfully -- but I can't find my changes. I've got bookmarks in both places -- and the folders seems to match, but changes are not showing up. As I said, even when I have my local bookmarks over-write the server bookmarks, the changes I've made don't appear.
Is there another way to start over? -
Inappropriate?Update: It looks like I can make changes via my work computer. When I add a bookmark, it shows up on the Foxmarks site. When I change a bookmark on my home computer, it does not.
Any suggestions? -
Inappropriate?Sandy: Both computers are synchronizing against the same Foxmarks username?
You mention a "work" computer and a "home" computer, but I'm not sure which has Firefox and which has Safari. Can you provide a step-by-step detailed account of what you're seeing?
e.g., Add a bookmark to one computer running Firefox, sync that to account FoxmarksFun, then synchronize Safari on other computer against FoxmarksFun, but changes don't show up. -
Inappropriate? They're both using the same user name -- and they're both using Safari. I'm only trying to keep two computers' Safari bookmarks matched up. If I add a bookmark on my work computer, it shows up on my.foxmarks.com, but when I do that at home, it doesn't. And the changes made at work, naturally, don't get put into my home machine. Confusing, huh?
I only have one Foxmarks account! -
Inappropriate?Sounds like your home machine isn't synchronizing successfully. If you go to the Foxmarks Settings panel on that computer and click "Synchronize Now", what do you see? If it succeeds, check to see if your bookmarks update at http://my.foxmarks.com/ and on the home computer, and if they do, make sure that "Enable Automatic Synchronization" is selected.
If synchronization fails, please post details from your foxmarks log as described here:

Thanks! -
Inappropriate? Thanks for your patience/diligence here. At home, Foxmarks SAYS it's syncing just fine. I get the Growl notification, everything seems to be operating just fine. But the bookmarks changes just don't show up online. I can even tell it to overwrite the server bookmarks with my local bookmarks; it'll SEEM to do it just fine, but the changes from my local bookmarks aren't there!

Inappropriate?Same problem here.
I've been using Foxmarks for FF since monthes and no problem so far.
Then I installed the Safari plugin when it just got released. It worked like a charm, using it alongside Safari 3. Then I didn't use it for days until I installed Safari 4, when I noticed that my bookmarks weren't the last version anymore. Bookmarks were still up to sync on My Foxmarks and on FF, but not anymore on Safari.
I tried to delete all my local bookmarks (purged ~/LIbrary/Safari/Bookmarks.plist and ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari), reinstall Foxmarks and "overwrite local bookmarks with server bookmarks", but now I'm just left out with Safari's default bookmarks (Apple, Yahoo, Youtube, Wikipedia, etc...)
I never got any error message though. Even the log seemed to be correct:

Thanks a lot for your help!
I’m confused

Inappropriate?I am having the exact same problem. I have two MacBooks that are both running Safari 4 beta. One of them can send and receive bookmarks from foxmarks with no issues at all. The other will not talk to foxmarks no matter what I do. I have fully deleted and reinstalled Safari, which made no difference. I get no errors on either machine, but the one computer simply will not sync. I am stumped and very frustrated. I am thinking it may be a permissions issue with a file somewhere, but I cannot figure out which one, and a complete Safari reinstall did not help.
Please help me!
I’m upset
-
Inappropriate?Well. I have come up with a "solution." I use the quotation marks, because this is really more of a workaround than a real fix. Here is what I did. I created a new user account for myself and then dragged my data from my old account to the new account. I used mobileme (which I am working toward getting rid of) to transfer my settings. It took about an hour, but now everything works. It is a bit of work, but at least it is a guaranteed way of getting everything going.
I’m tired but satisfied.

Inappropriate? One month and still no fix.
A little help would be greatly appreciated!
If it may help, I noticed that my iPhone somehow synchronizes correctly with Foxmarks, while Safari 4 keeps displaying default bookmarks. Does it mean that Foxmarks writes my bookmarks in a place where iTunes reads them in order to sync with my iPhone, whereas Safari 4 is retrieving bookmarks from another place?
Thanks a lot
