Case of the disappearing bookmarks!
Installed Foxmarks on two computers, synchronised just fine. Everything there. Then all of my bookmarks disappeared on one computer. Went to the FAQ, followed instructions to download them from the server as they were all okay there. Nothing happened! It did not download my bookmarks that are stored on the Foxmark server.
New computer, so nothing backed up on the Firefox site for the new install of Firefox.
Between the bookmarks being there and disappearing, I installed TabMix Plus and Fire FTP add-ons.

Inappropriate?maybe a corruption of the local bookmarks file
create a new (FF) profile and test it (with and without the other add-ons)
if it doesn't work again after you installed a add-on it's most probably the add-on's fault -
