NOTE: This MAY have begun after installing the new chrome beta. It's unlikely, but possible. My most recent sync was at 7AM and i installed the new Chrome beta at around 7:45 PM. I was at work until 6, but I used my browser between 6:15 and 7:45, so..... i'd think it would sync within that time. But just FYI.
PLEASE ADD YOUR REPORT OF THIS PROBLEM AS WELL IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR ISSUE.

Inappropriate?I am still awaiting any kind of response. The problem is persistent. The foxmarks logo in my toolbar (with the other addon buttons, to the right of the address bar) shows a red question mark in the lower right corner of the icon. Please advise. -
Inappropriate?No thanks to anyone actually responding helpfully, I have figured out that when upgrading to the latest version of Chrome Beta, you must manually uninstall, and then reinstall the XMarks addon. You'll need version version 0.5.41

Inappropriate?i had this problem since 2/11.
tried uninstalling/reinstalling and it didnt work.
reran setup wizard and erased bookmarks on server. now all seems good again. i'm running dev channel chrome

Inappropriate?I have had this problem since Xmarks for Chrome came out. I did not upgrade to the newest chrome beta, so I doubt that is the problem. There are so many people having this problem, but they just have no idea on where to post it. The problem is worse than indicated by the few numbers in here.
I’m saddened that Google is not even responding to this issue. I mean, I had to chek and see if I was using MSIE for a second. ;)

Inappropriate?I've installed this after being recommended that Xmark as one of the 10 must have extensions for Chrome. I guess I'll have to switch to an alternative seeing how long it takes to respond to such a show stopper bug.

Inappropriate?On my laptop, Mac PowerBook, Snow Leopard 10.6.2, running "Chrome 5.0.335.0 dev", it works and syncs fine.
On my MacPro, Snow Leopard 10.6.2, running "Chrome 5.0.307.11 beta" I'm getting the same errors reported above. -

Inappropriate?I've just gotten this error for the first time on Chrome.
Haven't had any unsolvable problems in the past (though i have had sync problems that come on the RESULT of syncing, meaning it always syncs but results in some odd ordering or duplication).
Dev v5.0.33
I will try a full replace of the server links and see what happens.
Also, I just noticed that under About Google Chrome, where the client looks for updates, the server couldn't connect, so there might be a connection issue under all of this.

Inappropriate?I am still receiving "Error during sync changes". I run a MacBook, Ubuntu and Windows 7 machines between work and home, all with the latest Chrome. It's the same error across all operating systems. I hear Chrome has limited support for extensions. Non the less, hoping this will be fixed soon. Thanks

"Sync Error: Unable to update Xmarks node [NVIDIA SDK 9.51 Code Samples]: Chrome doesn't support updating the URL!"

From the wiki: "Unable to update Xmarks node [bookmark name]: Chrome doesn't support updating the URL!
Due to a bug in Chrome (#19100), we are unable to update a bookmark's URL. Until Chrome supports this, the easiest way to get around the issue to do a download from the advanced Xmarks settings. This will replace all of your current Chrome bookmarks with the bookmarks we have saved in your Xmarks account."
To get around this, I manually uploaded/downloaded from the server, which fixed the issue.1 Comment Add a comment

Inappropriate?Same problem, going on more on more than a month now, tried to force an upload as suggested by an xmarks rep (tried several times now) one of two results every time: 1.) "sync failed, error during compare" 2.) xmarks extension crashes.
I haven't been able to sync since the end of March, please fix this, tis starting to tick me off!

Inappropriate?Sorry for the lack of response here; we've been trying to focus on hunting down and fixing the problems we can reproduce easily. There are two main fixes for stuff I've seen in this topic:
- Make sure you have the most recent version of Xmarks for Chrome from http://download.xmarks.com/download -- a lot of older issues have been addressed in the most recent release, and
- Try a download of your bookmarks from the Xmarks server--this resets the state of the bookmarks in Chrome and should allow future sync to proceed, though it has the drawback of overwriting local changes.

Inappropriate?Really bummed that I just realized my bookmarks haven't synced in days and I did a LOT of bookmark organizing on another computer. Now there are a bunch of bookmarks that didn't get organized and it's a mess to try to figure out. I research all day and bookmark organization is VERY important to me. I guess I'll go back to Firefox until I can run Chrome on all my machines and stop using Xmarks. Xmarks was great before Chrome. It simply shouldn't be available if it is going to cause problems like this.
