constant local / server conflict
I Keep getting a message that says that Xmarks can't tell which version of a folder/bookmark to retain. I tell it which one but then a few seconds later it asks me again, and again, and again ... It then proceeds to go through ALL the bookmarks in that folder, telling me for each one that it can't tell whether it should retain the local or the sever version. Drives me nuts! This has happened continuously and repeatedly in a session for the last week, but only for the one same folder so far. PLEASE HELP!

Inappropriate?I also have this problem. It seems to have happened after an update.

Inappropriate?Have the same problem and the drop down Xmarks screen appears so
often I cannot use Firefox at all. Very frustrating.

Inappropriate?Hey Everyone,
I'm extremely sorry for the delayed response. Do the conflict messages go away if you perform a manual Download? This will replace everything in your browser with what is contained on the server. I'd double check my.xmarks.com to make sure you won't be losing any bookmarks in your browser. You can perform a download by
Firefox->Tools->Xmarks->Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Download.
Also, what are your computer setups? (Operating system, browsers, versions of Xmarks?)
Thanks -
Inappropriate?I'm using several profiles in Firefox.
Firefox 3.5 with Xmarks 3.1.0 on linux
I’m curious

Inappropriate?Hey Ben,
Have you tried a manual download, as I've suggested above? -
Inappropriate?Hey everyone,
If you can try a manual upload, that would be great. Also if you could post the last 20 lines of your logfile, that would also help out as well. You can view your logfile here:
Firefox->Tools->Xmarks->Xmarks Settings->Advanced->Show Logfile

I have this problem. Manual download does not resolve it. I cannot perform a manual upload because the Firefox bookmarks are substantially out of date. I also use Xmarks for Safari. Firefox is my secondary browser, which is why it's bookmarks are old. How do I totally trash my Firefox config and just get a clean copy of bookmarks from the server? Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Hey broetker,
Thanks for the logfile, but unfortunately I need the last 10-20 lines from the bottom of your logfile to see what the specific error code is. If you can post that, it would be a great help.
Thanks -
Inappropriate?I give up - will check back in month or two when they solve it. Long time user but this is too time consuming.

Inappropriate?same same. Every 10 minutes it interrupts my work to ask me to solve server dispute. I comply , but to no avail. Havent had updated bookmarks since august 3rd due to this problem. I thought Xmarks was whta I always wanted, loved it while it worked but now its a nightmare,

Sorry for the trouble--what happened when you tried the manual upload that Nate suggested above? -
Inappropriate?having the same issue here. in my case, the bookmark is to a site that updates several times per day, so xmarks sees the one on my computer is diff from on the server but not xmarks fault.
is there a way to make xmarks ignore the changes several times per day? or should I just delete this bookmark from both my pc and the server? -

The popup mentions the conflict. It doesn't matter if I cancel, says "use server version" or "use local version". It comes right back moments later. I've tried both manual upload overwrite AND download overwrite, but it errors out either way. -
Inappropriate?I have 2 XP & 1 Mac machine all running FireFox.
The problem seems to be caused by rearranging existing bookmarks in FireFox. (ie changing to a different folder.) The problem will then occur on another computer.
If I overwrite my local data the problem does go away but this is no longer desirable as I will lose some recent important bookmarks.
I also sync my bookmarks with Weave. A possible cause?
These days I can't even continuously select one of the options. Eventually FireFox will stop responding. So, can't generate the log file. -
Inappropriate?OK, I think I might be on to something.
Safari allows you to bookmark an RSS feed for it's built in RSS reader.
feed://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/Travel.xml
These feeds confuse Firefox if you also have the regular version of the same page bookmarked.
http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/r...
I logged into my.xmarks.com and deleted all the FEEDs and Firefox finally stopped freaking out.
Hooray!
Since I now use an RSS reader web app I won't miss them.
