Does not sync bookmarks when returning from suspend/sleep mode
When I put my computer in suspend/sleep mode and leave the browser window open the browser shows the following icon on the bottom right corner: "Foxmark has encountered an error." [With a Red question mark]
I assume that this has to do with no Internet connection to sync the bookmarks. The message stays there until I hit the "Synchronize Now" button. Foxmarks should just try again to attempt to sync the bookmarks rather than display this error message for ever.
My specs:
Firefox 3.0.3
Foxmarks 2.5.3
Ubuntu Linux 2.6.27

Inappropriate? You can check your foxmarks.log for the specific message, but I get similar behavior under Mac OS X--when starting back up after sleep, sometimes the network connection isn't fully alive, so Foxmarks gets an error.
The longest that error would be displayed is about an hour, unless the computer is suspended before the next synchronization attempt occurs. -
Inappropriate? That is exactly the problem and it eventually gets resolved when the network is up and it retries again (5 minutes in my case). I was just wondering if Foxmarks should display a more descriptive message of what has occurred including when it will try to sync again. The current message: "Foxmark has encountered an error." does not tell people much of what has happened.
Perhaps a temp. solution would be for Foxmarks to wait until the network is up before trying to do a sync. You could do a ping to the server and if up then synchronize them otherwise display when the next sync attempt will occur.
It is difficult to tell when the network will be up after coming back from suspend. In my case, in the wired connection takes a about 5 seconds and with my wireless laptop about 10 seconds. So a better solution would be to not to try to sync them right away when coming back from suspend but rather wait a few seconds more. -
Inappropriate?Agreed on all counts, but I'm not sure that the extension has access to any information regarding whether suspend only recently concluded. You're right that the error displayed could be better, and adding in the will-next-try time would be a nice touch, so we'll look into improving those. Thanks for the feedback!
