Inappropriate? Can you email your log file to betatest@foxmarks.com? Taking a look through the whole thing might help me figure out what's going wrong.

Inappropriate?I sent this in a few days ago and am still waiting for a reply.

Inappropriate?hao can i find the LOG?
-
Inappropriate?any solution yet??? I have the same problem
-
Inappropriate? We just released an update last night (0.9.80) that should help out with this. Can you upgrade and let me know if you're still seeing a problem? Thanks!
-
so where do I get the fix? I've looked all over the site. -
Oops sorry! You can download the most recent version from http://download.foxmarks.com/download/ie -
now we get a new error! 406 error from server:base revision not specified or not an integer -
Inappropriate? Can you try doing a download from the advanced Foxmarks dialog? This should get everything back in a happy state. (And note: doing a download will replace your IE Favorites with what you have on Foxmarks!)
-
what is the advanced dialog????? -
Clicking the Foxmarks logo in the task bar should open the main Foxmarks dialog. From there click the Advanced button, where you can find the Download button. -
Inappropriate?I installed Foxmarks for IE a couple of days ago (Windows Vista Ultimate SP1) and have the same issue. Working fine from another PC running Windows XP Professional SP3.
-
Are you running the latest version of Foxmarks (0.9.85)? What exactly does the error message say? -
Inappropriate?Hello Colin,
I'm running version v0.9.85.
The exact error (from the details):
================================
Sync error:
FoxmarksException during sync [1535] attempt: FoxmarksException [1001]: Error [6], couldn't create new INI file:
\\?\C:\Users\mbraeke1.HOME\Favorites\Links\EASYNEWS.COM Login Page v2.28.URL
================================
I have read that some other favorite sync programs have issues when people sync their bookmarks using iTunes to their iPhones.
This synchronisation is not on in my case, but I do own a iPhone and sync it via iTunes. Can this be of any help ?
Thanks again,
Mario -
Inappropriate?delete todos os itens dos favoritos, da maquina que esta dando erro, e depois sincronize novamente.
aqui eu resolvi assim. -
Inappropriate?Okay just installed and did a sync and I've gotten the same error message. It seem no one has a fix. Is there going to be one or do I have to look else where for another program?
-
Hey Charles,
Exactly what error message are you seeing? Hopefully the error in the original complaint has been fixed, but there are some similar error messages that still happen occasionally. -
Inappropriate?I gave up on this a month ago. I am surprised Walt Mossberg would recommend such a lousy program.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?if you get:
FoxmarksException during sync [1531] attempt: FoxmarksException [1001]: Error [6], couldn't create new INI file: \\?\C:\Users\user\Favorites\Links\WORM.URL
Check so thet the bookmark-file is not Read only.
Removing read only from my files fixed my sync problem.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Experienced the same problem with a new install of IE8 on XPsp2. Removed all items in the Favorites folder on the computer with the new IE and re-ran the sync. Sync started ( I could see things being created in the folder) but died about a third or the way through. Attempting to re-run sync from the Advanced Dialog with a full Download resulted in :
Sync Error
Internal error while writing to your Facorites [1001]: couldn't move file [5]
(Note to developers - adding a "Copy this message to clipboard" button on the error dialog would help in reporting these error messages :-) )
Will be glad to provide a sanatized version of my foxmarks log if that will help.
I’m sad (but hopeful that my x-marks goodness will soon be in my IE as well as my Firefox!)
-
Hey Kevin,
Usually cleaning your local Favorites and doing a download fixes things up, sorry to hear it didn't! When you say "re-ran the sync", can you describe exactly what you did? Could you try repeating the process one more time, but instead of re-running a sync, can you go to the advanced Foxmarks options and do a Download instead? Let me know what happens.
(And yes, the error dialog definitely needs to have a copy link... For now, you can access the details by going to the advanced dialog and clicking the "View Log File" button.) -
ok - here we go.
Could not clear the Favorites folder due to something having the files locked (Foxmarks?) so I decided to do a really good test and restarted the box completely. (1) Removed Favorites folder. (2) Ran FoxMarks using the Advanced ... Download... (3) Humm - it worked.
The difference this time was the IE was NOT running when I did the sync, and was running the last time.
Just for grins re-running a full download without first clearing the folder. - ok that also worked.
Next test - open IE8, then run regular sync - no issues. Now re-run full download sync. - ah ha! Got it.
Here is the error message from the log file with some lines leading up to it.

So - from this small sample of tests it works then IE8 is closed, not when it is open. Admittedly a small sample of tests. Is there additional info that would be helpful?
As an aside - did the same install on my laptop running Vista + IE8 with no issues. x-marks goodness fully operating there..... -
Inappropriate? Is happening to me today on one computer. XP running IE 8. Uninstalled xmarks and deleted all favorites, then reinstalled and tried downloading and overwriting local. Here is the error at the bottom of the log.
