Foxmarks syncs too often - can I schedule it?
Foxmarks is a real "fox" when it comes to taking loving care of my bookmarks. But it can be a real "pig" on my little laptop's resources when it constantly tries to sync. I have to wait until it's through hogging my bandwidth before I can continues browsing. Is there a way to "schedule" it's sync'ing or space it out, so it's only once an hour or something like that?
I've read the other, similar posts, but the only option mentioned is to sync on shutdown, and I almost NEVER shut this puppy down.
Do you have a way to SCHEDULE sync'ing yet?

Inappropriate?Instead of rescheduling synchronization, I wonder if addressing the underlying problem might be a better approach.
Generally if synchronization is very noticeable, I've found that it's due to Foxmarks handling more than 1,000 bookmarks. When you visit http://my.foxmarks.com/ and check the numbers at the bottom of "Grid View", how many bookmarks does it say you have?
Additionally, Foxmarks should only synchronize once per hour, or about five minutes after the last change was made. If you find it's synchronizing more frequently than that, it might be failing to synchronize successfully, or else another extension is reporting changes when none have been made.
Let us know some more details and we'll see if we can find a good solution. -
Inappropriate?my problem is similar, but worse...it was attempting to sync continously, without successfully syncing...did not know how to stop the syncing process.last successful sync was over a week ago, after my last reboot.
rebooting my system solved the problem -
Great to hear you were able to fix it! Usually if synchronization starts up and then never seems to finish, though, that's due to the extension crashing. Evidence can often be found on the Error Console under such conditions. -
Inappropriate?I'd like to set it custom to DL when I open FF, and UL when I close...
That would make me happy!
