Is there a way to set the sync interval?
Is there a way to set the sync interval?
I would like to be able to decrease the time between syncs. Also I would like it to sync on start up.
I often have changes waiting on the server and my second machine doesn't get them until I manually sync, wait until a change triggers it or 60 minutes.

Inappropriate? In order to avoid people overwhelming the sync server by synchronizing every 5 seconds, we've not included any settings panel interface for changing the sync interval.
By default, though, if automatic synchronization is enabled, Foxmarks should synchronize within 60 seconds after Firefox is started up. If that doesn't seem to be happening, please send along more details! -
It seems my Safari is syncing about every 60 seconds. I have seen my screen fill completely with the ghostly green tags that I have a successful sync. I would like to synchronize MUCH LESS. I get sync tags even with NO ACTIVITY. -
Yes! I have the same issue. I wanna sync way less often. If you let me set my own interval, I would probably do it once every 10 or 15 MINUTES not seconds. Jeez. Please let us sync less often!
Looks like people keep posting the same request about wanting to sync LESS, and you keep posting that you didn't include this as a user configuration settings because you are afraid of people syncing MORE.
Over those years, have you learned to READ the user's comment, not just blindly REPLY to them?
Seems like both the users and the administrators want the same thing: less load by reducing unnecessary syncing. Now if you could only get the DEVELOPERS on board!
Or at least replace the people who don't read the feedback properly with ones who actually give a damn. Sorry for being harsh, but this thread is EIGHT MONTHS OLD.
And in all this time, NOTHING. -
Inappropriate?I too would desperately love to see this feature. I use both Firefox and Safari simultaneously and leaving autosync on for both of them wreaks havoc on productivity so I've ended up turning off autosync on both which inevitably means I occasionally forget to sync. I'll try the plist trick from the other thread for Safari, but what about a solution for Firefox which is my main browser? There's no reason to be checking for sync every 60 seconds and performance does take a hit with spinning beach ball being common.
It sounds like you guys are worried about people wanting to sync too much, but all these threads are folks asking to sync *less*! Isn't it possible to set 60s as the minimum threshold and let people scale longer from there? I'd wager you'd get a lot of folks syncing less which means some relief to your server load as well. -
Inappropriate?I agree. There needs to be a setting so that I'm not interrupted by that annoying notice on my screen that xmarks has synced again. Personally, I'd set it for once a day or so. Two reasons:
- I just don't create that many bookmarks that my many systems/browsers need to be updated so often.
- I don't hop from system to system multiple times a day. -
