Please help me delete Xmarks!
I cannot STOP the pop up window constantly requesting my login and password for XMarks while I'm trying to work. It high jacks my sentences ... I want to delete this program...PLEASE TELL ME HOW! I have already gone through the menu to stop this but IT DOESN'T WORK. I have gone online and tried some of the suggestions for removal but they don't work either. XMark program does not show up in my Add/Remove programs menu from the Control Panel. I have to work and use email and this is driving me crazy and I do NOT want to constantly be cursing at my machine/your program is horrible. I want to delete...please help! Thank you,

Inappropriate?If you're using Xmarks in the Firefox web browser, go to your Tools menu and choose "Add-ons". From there you should be able to select Xmarks and click Uninstall.
If you're using Xmarks for Internet Explorer, look for "Xmarks for IE" in the "Uninstall or change a program" list within the Windows Control Panel. Select it and click Uninstall.

Inappropriate?Same problem here, but when i go to Tools/AddOns in Firefox, Xmarks is not in the list. It's alphabetical and there's nothing between W and Y in the list. I checked for Foxmarks too just in case, but it's not there either.
Because of a quirk in my computer, it doesn't hold many "Remember my logon" type info. So at every boot-up, I've had to enter the email/password combo. A nuisance, but not a big deal.
Suddenly today, it's not taking the usual combination...and the logon box pops up every couple of minutes when I say cancel.
Preference 1: Just help me get rid of it; i really don't need it.
Preference 2: Help me get around the email/password problem.

Thanks for the detailed post. That is strange that Xmarks isn't listed in your add-ons. You can manually delete Xmarks from your Firefox profile. To locate your Firefox profile, go here:

Once you are in your profile's folder, go to the Extensions folder, and delete "foxmarks@kei.com"
If you'd like to keep Xmarks, you can always disable auto sync so it won't attempt to sync without your password.
You can do so here:
Xmarks Settings->Sync Tab->Auto Sync

Inappropriate?I was with you right down to where I found the extensions folder (see attached picture). When I got there, I even saw some files with the @ sign in them so I think I'm in the right place. But alphabetically, it goes from Autopager@mozilla.org to Kodak-companion@mozilla.com with no foxmarks@kei.com in between. Could this be why the password is failing now...that this foxmarks@kei.com is missing? If so, can it be recreated somehow?
As for keeping Xmarks, right now, I think I'd just as soon let that go for now, but I'd like to understand better what "you can always disable auto sync so it won't attempt to sync without your password" in case we don't find a way to delete Xmarks.

That is very strange? I wish I could sit down at your computer and really look at what is going on. Did you only have one folder in the "Profiles" folder? Does Xmarks show up in the Tools menu in Firefox? What I suspect that's going on, is that your Firefox profile is corrupted, but looking at how many add-ons you have, creating a new one probably won't be an option.
As for my suggestion about auto sync, the login prompt window is displaying because auto-sync is trying to run, but can't without proper authentication. With proper authentication, it runs without you even knowing. Disabling auto-sync will stop the login prompt every 5-10 minutes, but you'll have to sync manually.

Not sure where you are, but in California, it's 12:30 am.
Must go to bed. Hoping that with a reboot overnight, maybe this will all miraculously go away? Yeah right... he he. Will check for your response in the morning.

Since you don't have Xmarks listed in the Tools menu, you'll have to disable auto sync in Firefox's about:config settings.
In the Firefox address bar, type about:config
Click "I'll be safe"
Type in the search bar: extensions.xmarks.syncOnTimer
Right click it, and choose "Toggle"
Close that, and you're done, this will disable Xmarks syncing automatically.
